Hello Friends.

I have recently came across quite a big problem with my Note, I will list the problems and/or strange happenings rather than slotting them into a wall of text so more people will be bothered to read it :D

These are some of the things that I have been experiencing, and things i tried (In chronological order:

  • I plugged in the phone, and it didn't charge
  • I turned off the phone before i connected the USb, turned it on and it seemed to charge fine
  • It charged to about 90%, then stopped charging (yeah, the cable was still in)
  • at work, randomly out of the blue, the connection jingle went off twice.
  • tried to charge again, didnt work, tried to turn off the phone first like i did before and the phone just always turns on everytime i plug it into the wall
  • eventually got it working, so i thought, the battery was filling up in the notification bar and my lock screen stated charging, yet the battery was going down
  • got mad,
  • ate cake
Does anybody have any ideas as to what is going on? I assumed it was a battery problem seeing as my phone acknowledged that it was plugged in, but then i tried my computer and it didnt do anything there either.

Sorry for long winded post, but i could really do with some help, I have ordered a new battery, if that doesnt work i will send it to Samsung but i really cant do that, my phone is a massive part of my day, including my job. So any advice would be appreciated.

Thankyou!

Warren

Hi Warren, *

Have you tried connecting the phone to a computer via USB? Does the phone charge when you do and if so does it complete its charge? If the answer is yes I would say that you have a bad transformer (this would be the best option since they are cheap).

If the phone does not charge, can you transfer files to and from the phone? If so then the charging circuit is probably broken and the phone needs servicing.

I hope that it is just the transformer...

Hope this helps,
Eric.

Hi Eric, Thanks for your response friend.

I seem to have made some progress after cleaning the USB port with a cocktail stick and some alchohol based cleaning solution. But i wont count my chickens, so to answer your question...

Now, when i plug it into my PC, it seems to charge fine enough, however I cant seem to access my files through My Computer.

Before However, nothing happened at all.

Thanks again sir.

After you plug the phone into the USB port of your computer, you should see a new entry in the status area of the phone (the drag down list at the top of the screen). Sorry, I cannot remember what it is called. When you click on this your files will become visible. This is the price you pay for having so much functionallity in a single port.

Eric.

This is my first post, so hello all!

I am having a very similar issue as above. In my case I plug in to charge and nothing happens most of the time. When it does charge it often stops and continues again in rapid succession. Further, when I unplug the charger the battery icon tells me it is still charging. This switches on and off too. I have a new issue as I.type this - a fully charged notification has appeared in the drag down, asking to.unplug the charger but I'm not!

Any thoughts or suggestions on how to fix this?

What worries me about this as an engineer is the fact that the phone claims to be charging when nothing is plugged in. If this is truly the case then my vote would be for broken hardware. I suggest trying for a replacement if you have the chance.

Sorry I cannot help more...

Regards,
Eric.
