Help Battery Problems

My brother and I just got a HTC Droid Incredible the other day and I'm having some battery problems with mine.

I unplug the phone at 6:30 every morning and go to school. It pretty much stays in my pocket all day, except for 45 minutes of playing games and some texting throughout the day. I come home and use it a little more (games, browser, texting). By 5:00 the battery is at 10%.

I have Bluetooth, GPS, and Wifi (unless I'm connected to a network and using data) turned off. I have compared my battery usage with my brother's and my Android System is much higher than his (about 40% to 15%). We pretty much use the phone the same way, so I don't know what is going on.

I just turned off syncing for a couple apps and increased the update time on others. Will this fix anything?

Thanks,
Matt

it could fix your problems, but sounds like it is something more significant than that. One possible cause could be lack of signal while it's in your pocket all day. Not having a reliable signal will cause a significant battery drain. Other most likely causes would be an app that is not shutting down properly ( most popular ones seems to be skype, pandora, shazaam, facebook(although that seems to be fixed) and some games don't exit properly). There is an app in the market called "spare parts" than can help troubleshoot battery issues by looking at the "partial wake" section. The most comprehensive way of narrowing it down to an app would be to do a factory reset and see if you still have the problem when you don't download any apps.

The most likely cause of your battery drain is a lack of a solid 3g connection. If you and your brother spend the day in the same school I'd suggest pulling your battery (rebooting your phone) and see if that helps. I have read that putting the phone in airplane mode.. and then taking it out of airplane mode will reclaim solid 3g... it has never worked for me.

If the phones spend the day in different places, I'd guess you have lousy 3g at your school. The work around would be to put the phone in airplane mode during school which would disable 3g and all apps trying to sync. Most apps designed to sync don't cause an alarming amount of battery drain until they can't sync.... they keep trying to update and suck your batter dry.
