Help battery problems

hello, in the last few day my battery has started playing up.

*it wont charge unless its turned off

*when charged it doesn't last long

*battery symbol shows charging when not plugged in,

i have tried 2 different charges so it cant be that ,

anybody got any ideas

after a full recharge, pull the usb charger and reset battery stats

oops forgot to ask if you were rooted, this app needs a rooted phone

Try calibrating the battery, but if it still broken, there's a chance you got a defective battery on your hands.

how do you calibrate the battery? do i need to root it 1st

I don't think you need root to run that app.

That said, I don't think its a battery calibration issue. I've read similar problems with other devices which turned out to be damaged USB ports on the device. Something inside the port was bent and shorted out making the device think it was charging when it wasn't.
