Help Battery Problems

Hello everyone,

I bought my wildfire s on contract (a 2 year one unfortunately!) a year ago and since then I've had a lot of issues with the phone.

The most recent - and what I can't seem to solve or ignore - is the battery. Ever since I updated the phones software, the battery now takes ages charging - seriously I need it plugged in for a few hours before it charges about 30%...

Last night I put my phone to charge (it had gone to about 10% battery level), and since it hadnt charged much by the time I went to bed (from 10-30% and this was a good few hours) I left it overnight for charging - even though I've never done this before. When I woke up, my phone had basically drained it's battery to 3%...

I really have no idea what happened and I'm getting really annoyed by this phone and really just want to drop it in water or something.... Any advice? (And please dont tell me to buy a new phone like the guy in the phone shop did!)

Thank you for your help!

I'm thinking this might be your cable . Maybe it became faulty. See you can charge with a different cable

Yes, I would agree with that try another cable, or better still another charger. Do you charge your phone switched on or off?

The other thing that may help is to see what type of charge the phone is doing. When plugged into power it charges at full rate and when usb charging it charges at half rate. If you go into settings.about phone.battery it will show if it is AC or usb charge. If the lead or charger are faulty it may not be going to AC charge mode.

Thank you all for your responses.

I just recently bought a new cable as my old one wasn't working. But the guy in the phone shop gave me a universal cable instead of the genuine HTC cable. However I haven't had any trouble charging my phone using this new cable until now and it was working fine. Would you advise me to buy the genuine cable replacement?

Hexx, I usually charge it while it's switched on so I can still recieve text messages and calls. Is it better if I shut my phone off while charging? Would this optimise its charging?

Playing Around, it is in AC mode while charging

Once again cheers for all of your replys!
