I'm a little confused about one small thing - when exactly is the best time wipe the battery stats?

Flash at 100% - drain the battery till shut down

Okay. Charge to 100%. Run until the phone shuts itself off. Then charge to 100% with the phone completely off. Power on and boot in to recovery. Wipe battery stats, and then for the next few days make sure you drain completely before charging to train your battery. Then you should be good to go.

Thanks, very helpful

I read somewhere that deepcycling your battery like this too many times can really mess up its life as in how long the battery will last before you need to buy a new one. I still need to do it to mine. I've been flashing mine a lot these last two weeks testing out roms and such for the site I help manage now (linked in profile).

Deep cycling your Lithium-ion rechargeable Cell Phone battery untill its completely dead will shorten the battery life. Lithium-ion battery (most popular rechargeable Battery) are suppose to last up to 2 years if you take care of them properly.( Charge them before they are completely dead) Deep cycling to train the lithium battery is not necessary because they don't have memory effect or slow loss of charge when not in use like the old nickel base rechargeable battery. The old Nickel base rechargeable batteries need to be drain completely before charging them to train them because of memory effect.
