Battery saving apps?

Seeking a bit of info on them. Is an app such as juice defender or 2x battery worth using? If so which is best? Trying to get the most life. Have already done the standard stuff like turning down the brightness, turning off the auto-synce, etc.

Tbh unless you underclock the phone, all you can really do is the things mentioned like lower brightness etc turn off data.. these task killing apps are rip offs imo and can do more harm than good.
An app cant perform miracles but battery monitor apps like Better Battery Stats, GSam, Wakelock Detector will let you see if any apps are wasting a lot of power

To expand off of my earlier post and funkys above...

All of those battery saving apps are actively running in the background to control your WiFi, mobile data, ect. Does it really make sense to have an app running to save battery when you could just hit the widget or toggle to turn those off when you aren't using them?

^^ this is what i do, it becomes a habit. Our brain (so far lol) is better than any app and the phone lets us toggle everything manualy (and much more efficiently) that an app can do automaticly.
The trick is to find the best manual way of toggling things to make it easier

These battery saving apps just basically automate things that can be done to save battery instead of you having to manually do these stuff. Basically, these apps save more battery as compared to leaving the device alone, but save less than if you manually toggle. The bonus of using these apps are just convenience.

TBH though, these apps only save battery in a noticeable way if you use mobile data a lot and it doesn't really increase battery life as opposed to extending idle time. These apps wont magically increase the time it takes for a game to run your battery flat. They do decrease the battery consumption of your phone when you leave them idle overnight or through the day.

There are various reasons for using or not using one. Personally I use Green Power Premium. While it is true that I can manually toggle the data connection to save battery everytime I use the phone, it also means chat messages via Viber/Line/WeChat/Facebook or Emails only come through when I specifically open the connection. Having the app toggle the network connection every 15min would allow communications to come through a few minutes after sending. Unlike when I manually toggle, an important message/mail may have been sitting in the servers for hours without me knowing. It all depends on the user if convenience is more important than extended battery life.

I imagine on a phone with a crappy battery the apps may help since they typically will turn off stuff that does drain the battery faster, but on phones with a proper battery like most of the newer phones I doubt you will see any type of huge difference. I personally think they are a waste of space, and never use them, but to each their own.

I do not use battery saving apos but you can try Juice Defender. It can calculate your battery percentage and save battery life.

I'm using Automateit to do the toggling for me...

However if you really want to do it manually you can use it to make a widget on your home screen, so when you hit that one button it will toggle all of those settings for you.

I think Juice Defender has those options too. Not too sure since I don't use these battery saving tools...

You shouldn't need any of those apps to have a widget to manually toggle. Its built into stock android.

I know.. but the point i was making is that I can have one toggle.. that will turn off data, adjust brightness, change sync settings, vibration and whatever i choose with a single click instead of going in to toggle 4 settings in separate places...

i use comodo battery saver it is a light in the memory and does not use any battery i have check it out on gsam and it reads 0 for using the battery i have use other battery apps before and they use some of the battery or dont turn off wifi like they should and then i seen that comodo makes one and i try it and have never loooked backed at the other ones the one thing that sucks is the couple of other apps i paid for and comodo is free and aso no ads and it has never let me down everything turns off like it is suppose to with this app

Then consider getting an "all in one" widget that can manage wifi, mobile data, brightness etc etc..

Just started using Juice Defender. Hopefully it really works because I notice sometimes my battery keeps dropping like water evaporating.

Juice defender has not been updated for over a year.

I have no idea why juice defender and similar apps are so popular. I used it because I thought it was worth my time and in the end, I screws up my work and usage. Really annoying
