Quick question. Where do you get the current Battery level %?'

Thank you

That's amazing to me....I felt I could do this as well (as others), but did not have the time or patience to pull it off. Just goes to show how well the snapdragon clocks down (maybe even idle states) and HTC's/androids implementation of different states of sleep works. Thx for taking the time to do this....Back to fun with your phone! ;)

Patience is one thing I have plenty of:) I did forget to mention that I fully charged the battery though. It's not really a hack or trick, and I definitely did NOT unplug-replug-unplug-replug ( That's just asking for trouble. ). I just turned the phone off and let it charge up.

This is essentially the same as turning the phone off so that USB can charge it...the phone is eating some power while on, so when the battery starts getting near full, and begins to decrease the current, it eventually ends up sending all of the power to the phone instead, leaving the battery receiving 0 charge: which is the signal that the battery is fully charged. However, because the phone was actually taking a portion of that charge, the battery wasn't quite topped off.

This is why there won't be some software fix for this, or even a firmware update. It's been there on every phone, and Li-Ion powered device for awhile now...it's just getting to be more and more noticeable, as phones are able to use more of the power that should have gone to charging.

Any idea what your up and awake times for just that charge are?

Any idea what your up and awake times for just that charge are?

I am not sure. I know for a fact that at 9:30am (@ approx 100%) I unplugged my phone (yesterday May10).

About 12:30pm I loaded on some SNes ROMS thru USB probably spent approximately 20m max connected to my PC, that was the last time I plugged the DI into anything. I know that throws off the data somewhat. Sorry. (btw if anything my data underestimates its potential, considering usb-pc uses about as much as it gives charge (unless phone off).

I have installed modroid graph so hopefully I can provide you guys more accurate data with less error.

As far as uptime and awake time go, correct me if I'm wrong but uptime is time since last reset. Awake time is the time since the phone has stopped being "asleep" so I'm not exactly sure how I can know my uptime and awake time since unplugged unless I carry a notepad around with me or unless I reset my phone at 100% charge or charge while my phone is "off"

Awake time is how much total time the phone has been active/awake since the last reboot. Up time is the total time since last reboot. So yea, for the tests we usually try to turn the phone off while still on the plug, unplug it and
turn it on. This has all of the numbers synced together. Though, I've messed up once too, but I did have the numbers recorded and was able to fix it, but that's probably because I've been a bit "anal" about the testing I'm doing:) ( This was on Test 3 btw. )

Unfortunately, the awake time is probably the second most important number ( right after the actual battery percentage ) as it helps to show actual usage, rather than simply "I didn't use it much" etc. Some people think light usage is 6 hours a day, others heavy use is 2 hours a day. 0.o So usage helps to somewhat even a very uneven field.

Thanks for posting the numbers though, every bit can potentially help.

Crud! just realized I screwed up my latest stats, I plugged in for a few minutes to drop some files in memory...

Would have hit about 20 hours with the stock batt.. Oh well, on vacation starting today, so will be a week or so before I get some more stats in...

On Saturday I uploaded 100 photos I took that day to facebook. I just happened to look at the battery and was surprised! The battery went 7 hours before recharge that day.
look at the useage stats:

camera 93
voice 3%
cell standby 2
phone idle 2

Up time 123 hrs
Awake time 46 hrs

Time to turn off and reset stats.

Hey Everyone,

Got another set of statswith the stock battery. Again, not so impressive as my nephew got a hold of Super KO Boxing 2 on my Incredible and was playing it for about 15 minutes! Look what happened when he did that!

UpTime: 11:35:25
AwakeTime: 3:57:48
Battery %: 14%
Wifi: Off
GPS: On (Used for about 10 minutes)
Bluetooth: Off
Always on Mobile data: On
Sync: Weather widget every 3 hrs and push on Exchange

Super KO Boxing 2 91%
cell standby 3%
android sys 2%
phone idle 2%
Dialer 2%

UnPlugged time: 11:27:22 (Moderate usage after gameplaying allowed it to last all day)

So, high quality games or ones with intense graphics and high responsiveness from the touch screen DESTROY the battery on this phone! It went from like 60% to about 45% in the 15 mins he was playing it! Yowza!! Yet, I want more high quality games on the Android platform!

Time to get to optimizing intense graphics and games Google!! :D

Hope this helps the data!
-Elo

Added. Thanks.

just so we get this right, I've made a quick step guide to providing accurate statistical data. (let me know if this is wrong)

my phone was in the red and beeping at me, "plug phone into charger" last night, so I:

1. turned phone off, turned phone on
2. cleared my battery graph (app)
3. plugged phone into charger
4. let charge over night (100%)
5. unplugged when I woke up

when my phone gets low on juice, I am going to:
6. record the stats and include my imported battery graph data

Well, I'm not going to make it to 4 days, so I'm going to go ahead and stop now ( else I'de have to be staying up til like 8AM to keep an eye for when the battery does die. )

As I said though, this was without removing any features like Sync, wifi, etc...all I did was let it sit in standby the vast majority of the time. Still managed almost 4 hours of use, including a 23 min phone call ( It was mothers day, of course I called my mom! ) As of about 12 hours ago I could have made it, but my Time Without Signal took a climb from about 9% all the way to 14%, and my battery showed it clearly. I went from probably about 4 days 2 hours, down to 3 days and 22 hours ( and falling. )

Cell Standby: 48% (TWOS 14%!)
Phone Idle: 43%

Minimal usage. (Obviously)

Yay, I can finally go back to normal usage:) Good to know I can make it well over 3 days if I need to....but right now I don't need to!

Added. 4% utilization- amazing.

We'll let it slide this time...;)

Turning the always on mobile network setting to off has really helped out at work. The reception in our building is really poor; usually my battery is dead (5-10% remaining and beeping at me to plug it in) at about 4:30 pm after 8 hours of unplugged time, usually between 25% - 40% on time without a signal.

Today I'm at 8 hr unplugged time, 25% time without a signal, and I'm at 51% battery left, so it's almost doubled my battery life.

After I turned off the battery widget and made sure the app killer wasn't running in the background, my battery life is ridiculous. Before I was lasting maybe 6-7 hours of my own usage, and after I can go to around 30 hours before the battery warning comes up with similar use as before. Just my own experience

move set 1 to between 4 and 5. You can let it charger all the way before turning on and off. The important thing is to have it off when you unplug it. Then turn it on and use it for the day. That will make sure the uptime and awaketime line up exactly.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the comments but without any data it's of limited value to others.

My phones been off the charger for 27 hrs and I have 25% battery left. I have auto brightness on, but have GPS and WiFi off. I also turn off 3G when I'm not usuing it, which isnt bad becaue the Mobile widget makes it simple to turn on and off.

My biggest drains are Cell Standby and Idle, which account for ~80% of my usage.

I couldn't paste the data from my battery graph app because I couldn't keep the data in one column, and I can't attach spreadsheets, so I zipped them together.

I believe all the relevant information can be inferred from the graph, such as up time. The May 12th xml, in my opinion, is very valuable for the fact that it goes from 100% to 0% (accidentally let it die) and lasting for nearly 18 hours with moderate use, 3G web surfing, wifi, phone calls, 100 minutes of .mp4 video, and lots of non-stop texting. Before the phone accidentally died, Cell Standby had devoured nearly 40% of the battery, and 33% of that was out of service. I think I might use airplane mode for the times when I know I wont be using my phone...

It seems people are blogging about their battery experience instead of providing relevant data to go into the master spreadsheet. If you want to help use this guide.

Statistical guide for users in order to provide accurate usable data:

1. plug phone into charger
2. let charge (100%) (clear battery graph (app) if you have it)
3. turn phone off
4. unplug phone
5. turn phone on
when phone gets low on juice:
6. record the stats
(and include imported battery graph data if you have it, hit menu, hit more, hit "import data to SD card", connect usb to computer, mount usb, open in explorer on pc/mac, find spreadsheets named for the day and time started. after importing data you can clear current data by hitting menu, more, clear data, yes)

stats get recorded in the following format:

this was mainly a test to see how long I could make it last. I didnt really use it much as you can see. Its still on but I think it will turn off soon. i may update this later if it stays on longer.

my cell signal has stayed around -85 to -95

I will prob do another test with bluetooth, wifi, and/or wifi on
