Battery status notification

I found this screenshot in what-does-your-epic-4g-screen-look-like thread. The blue battery icon in the notification bar has been replaced with the colored circle & battery percentage. Do I need to root my phone to have this or is there an app\widget to change the battery icon to this? Thx, Radugb

ps: I have searched the forums and android market and while there are apps that add a new battery status icon to the notificaction bar, I want to REPLACE the existing one.

When I clicked on that link and it tried to download, it said "Content is not supported by this phone"
Any ideas?

That looks exactly like the battery mod used in the midnight rom themes(some of them atleast) except its blue. I can't remember if that is by mysteryemotionz or amosher13 or? but I think you can find it on xda, you may have to be rooted to use that though:-(

Paul1956, that is the battery status indicator I was looking for...BUT take a look at the screenshot again. The battery status indicator in the screenshot is taking the place of the stock battery indicator (the blue battery icon). How do I program the circular battery indicator to do that? Thx, Radugb

I am pretty sure you have to be rooted to remove the stock battery indicator and similiar functions. Perhaps someone elase will have some options for you.

I am pretty sure you do have to be rooted to use that one. I dont believe you can remove a stock item in the notification bar without being rooted.

The one I have supplied the link to does not require you to be rooted. I downloaded it this morning and I am running it on my Epic with no problems.

Yup. I asked the person who's I saw with that modification. Only way to remove/replace the stock batter indicator is to root the phone. I don't intend to root my phone over just that. But at least I got my answer.

I was rooted prior to the EC05 update but I don't plan to root the phone again. I am very happy with the performance of EC05.
I removed my other battery indicator for the one I posted above and it's a nice enhancement over what I was using.

I mostly am too. Everything in EC05 has worked so much better so far. I think I can live with having two battery indicators. The only two issues I have to tackle now are the digital compass and the incoming call screen. Time for new threads!
