Help battery sucks after installing google maps

friends any solution for this issue
when ever i install google maps my battery drains
when i put my phone in online and not using any apps the battery drains
but when google maps is uninstalled the battery stays solid
what might b the reason
i do wish to have maps application in mobile but the battery problems worries me
any solution/ tips is appreciated

you have to force stop maps in app manager
