Battery usage

I notice in the Battery Usage stats I've used 25% on Cell standby. Battery used by cell radio, Time without a signal 100% and Time on 20+ hours. How can this be if its wifi only?

Dunno why that's happening same on mine. i've set airplane mode on and turned wifi back on so that might help.

No issues with the battery though, no reduction in power at all overnight, I only locked the screen and didn't power down so expected some loss. I did turn of wifi though.

Ive been using the tab solid since about 2 this afternoon and battery is at 37% from 94% when I stopped using it last night, I'll see if the airplane mode makes a difference after the next charge.

It's weird, but it's defo taking up some of my battery. Generally I've got a lot out of it. I put it on standby last night in the morning I checked and it hadn't gone down. Yet earlier today it went down quite fast. I might have to try the airplane mode. I've checked on google but can't seem to find any mention of the same problem on wifi only tablets.

Ok I do wonder if ihave problems. I lost 10% battery in standby mode in 1 day. The reason I thought i'd not lost any battery was it hadn't refreshed the usage.

OK so looking into the About Tablet - device info on my tab shows a couple of interesting things, first the model ID shows as A501 and it also states Product SKU - 3G.

Is it possible the wifi only models are exactly the same as the ones with 3g with just the 3g disable via some internal settings, hence the cell standby still using battery. Could it be once these are rooted the 3G could be switched on?

Mine says a500 in the about tablet -> model number but A501 in the device information -> model ID, it's meant to be wifi only but odd to have two references to 3G on it.

I wonder just how much of the 3G version is included in the A500? Is it just the software or have they also put some of the same hardware in it? The chassis seems to be the same with just a sticker covering where I suspect the 3G sim should be inserted.

That's what I was thiking perhaps just a software lock, if rooted this may be unlockable.

Not a big issues as I can link to my phone for 3G but interesting none the less.

Has anyone dared to pull the sticker off yet and see what's underneath? I haven't as it voids the warrenty but the one in the shop I bought it from had the sim slot next to the SD slot but as far as I'm aware there isn't a 3g version available in the UK yet?

There are apparently a couple if services running that cause the cell standby to appear in the battery usage list. Switching airplane mode on and manually enabling wifi makes no difference. Actual battery usage doesn't look to be impaired too much.

MJ.

I have not noticed a bad drain yet while in sleep mode. I have even left GPS and wifi on (forgot) and only 5% loss overnight. That seemed good to me.

There is a SIM card slot behind the sticker. People on XDA have removed the sticker and seen it. Apparently it is larger than AT&T sim card so no one knows exactly what or who will support it. We will just have to wait til the 3g model comes out or someone does a complete tear down of it.
