Battery use on my Galaxy Note 1 has increased. When I checked what may be causing it I find a App called - "Play Magazines" using 8%. I don't know what it is. I am certainly not downloading any magazines. I doubt if I ever will so how do I get rid of this App?

If it is a pre-installed app you can not uninstall it but you can disable it. There are quite a few of these pre-installed apps you may wish to disable. They will still be present afterwards but inactive, so they are prevented from syncing and updating themselves. This removes some demand on the battery and reduce your data costs.
