@ 15% your phone is giving you a friendly reminder to plug it in. @ 5% your phone is saying I am starving and I am going to shut down any minute, plug me in or else.

pupkact, if I read the OP's question right I don't think you answered it. lol

to the OP: Mine does the same thing, beeps at me at 14% and 4%. Seems weird to me lol My bionic and OG droid beeped at 15% and 5%. like you said, not a big deal. But it annoys me but thats just because I'm used to it going off at 15% and 5%

Yeah same here. I always thought it was weird too, to warn at 14 and 4 instead of 15 and 5. I just figured the phone is dropping so quickly from 16 to 15 to 14 that it just "missed" but that's probably not the case LOL.

The two warnings at two different levels are there to help the user avoid getting into (or staying in) a resource heavy task, such as a video or even a phone call, and then having the battery become unable to support the services which are in the background driving the apps and widgets involved.

If a service is interrupted mid-task by lack of power, problems can ensue as the system suddenly finds itself partially "brain dead." ;) Next boot up could seem longer, or could even freeze at partial loading, etc. Rare, but 100% avoidable with the two battery drain warnings.

i think the point is why is it 14 and 4 specifically....and not 15 and 5 for example (nice round numbers).

It is odd....and i wondered why they chose it, and didnt give us a way to set it ourselves.

Keep in mind that a battery is not really at 15% and then suddenly at 14%, it is a continuous scale. The warning has been coded to activate when the battery drops below 15%. In other words, when there is exactly (or as close to as can be measured) 15% of the power left. If you could see the proper number, it would say 14.999. Having it activate when the numbers hits 15% is actualy 15.999%. When you think of it like that, it kind of makes sense.
