Accessories Battery

Is it worth while buying a new battery for the Desire? A quick search on ebay brings up a 3000mAh battery but this looks quite ugly as it requires a new back for the phone. Can also see lots of 1600mAh's and even a 2430 one. Are these any good and/or does anybody have any recommended battery updates?

If buying a new battery, stick to an HTC original. After a number of charges you'll be able to achieve 36-48hrs life out of it on moderate use and a reasonable 12-18+ hrs with fairly heavy use, outside of those times and you probably have an app thats running all the time, draining your battery...

Just to add to the above though, "heavy use" is a subjective term. If you have your screen on for 5 hours, your battery will be dead.
