Hi last night I turned my desire off and still had 71% battery life I switched it on this morning and now have only 34% how is this possible?

Is fastboot enabled? If so, it's not actually off properly, just hibernating.

Regardless, that's still an insane amount of battery drain for a handset which is supposed to be off. Even when on, overnight I only lose 6-7% battery.

What's "normal" battery life for you?

Read this link. The last post has a method of improving battery life. I'm trying it tonight to see if it works.

ok Ive switched that off, I'm not sure as I'm always muckin around on it! with a mobile like the desire its very hard just to use for calls and texting.

could have just left it hibernating with an app or game till on in the background? i found those stupid app killer apps are a massive drain on battery power!
