I got The galaxy S2 a couple of days ago and the battery is killing me. I'm thinking of returning it and getting something else. I love the phone its just the battery doesnt last the whole day. The most i can get is 6 hours and i barely use it.. Can anyone help me?? please:(

Well don't get the Amaze 4g. It's even worse. I had to return that phone and the GSII is a bit better, but what can one expect from a device running 42hspa+ radio, LARGE screen, and 1.5ghz dual core. It's a first gen device for this kind of tech combo. Think HTC Thunderbolt issues...

You can look on forums for how to save battery but it's a lot of work imo. If you buy a device like this, just know you're trading battery for functionality.

i have to admit that the battery is not really that great on this device. i would suggest turning the brightness to the lowest and turn off "push" notifications for emails if you have that on, i think this feature kills a lot of juice. i barely do much on the phone, and it just makes it through a work day.

i have purchased a car charger and a couple of micro usb cables from amazon, just in case i need to charge in the office or while on my commute.

Interesting. I'm trying to decide between Amaze and GSII. I was heavily leaning towards Amaze but was concerned about battery life. If GSII isn't much better I'll probably try the Amaze.

One of the biggest power drain is the screen. So if you want a phone last long, get one with smaller screen.

First of all cycle the battery all the way down that means let it run down till its almost dead. For the first 3 chargers of the phone. Also put your screen dimness as low as you can where you can still see the screen well. Next turn your power saver setting on in the settings menu. Also make sure your wifi is off when not in use and your gps too. and last if you need an extra battery boost wich may or may not make a differnece on this phone try juice defender. I have the tmobile s2 and get great battery life.

There are so many of them now. I bought this one earlier this year. It's been working great! Love it when I travel so I don't have to worry about phone being drained. I listened to music with my phone all the time. So it's good not to worry I need to get close to a USB outlet or AC outlet.

Amazon.com: New Trent ifuel IMP500 5000mAh External Battery pack and Charger for Apple iPhone 4S 4 3Gs 3G (AT&T and verizon), iPod Touch (1G 2G 3G 4G 5G), Motorola Droid, HTC Android EVO, Blackberry, Samsung EPIC, Samsung Galaxy Tablet, Samsung Galax

But there are so many new ones out there. I have bought another one with higher capacity. But it becomes so heavy to carry around.

This will give you maxim battery set your power saver settings and run juice defender ultimate. Battery lasts a long time like this.

I have the Canadian Telus version (same phone) since Friday the 28th and I thought the battery was an issue at first, but now that I have cycled the battery 3 times it is getting much better.

Yesterday I started my day at about 8:30am, powered phone on after full night charge. Used it for a few phone calls (2 to 5 minutes each), replied to several e-mails, a text or two, screen set to auto brightness, e-mail sync for 3 accounts every 15 minutes, I toggle GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi on or off depending on if I am in the car or not (in car, WiFi off, GPS on, Bluetooth on and reverse if in office) and I had 70 to 80% left by around 4pm. At 7:30pm I played about 1.5 hours of Drag Racing until it powerd off by itself. To me that is more than acceptable.

I do know for a fact, though, that the T-Mobile version has a ton of bloatware that the Telus version does not and as a result may be giving you different results with your battery.

EDIT: I am not running anything special to save the battery, I run Widget Locker and I do not have any app killer, I do not clear memory and only exit programs if I know I am not going back in. Yesterday I had used Google Maps for a few minutes, Zombie Booth as well, plus 2 or 3 others and I did exit them after use since I was not going back in for the day.

Wow that awesome! well i been having some issues with the phone. i will need to call customer care tonight.. My phone right now just Turn off by itself while charging and this is the 3rd time that is happening. =/

Tmobile does have a lot of bloatware. I had like 10% usage per hour until after a few cycles and turning off stuff I dont' use. Like facebook and twitter updates which was preset to like once every 15 minutes. Helped a lot. Now I get around 15 hours of usage with roughly 30% battery left.

Yeah...we have bloat! Running on a developer rom that's been debloated (and i debloated it even more), and making sure not everything is push notification activated has significantly improved battery life. not to mention the phone runs smoother than before...and it was already buttery.

I think the battery is excellent on this phone mine is 4 days old now and on the fourth day today i have 9hrs of use with quite a bit of music downloading using wifi, facebooking and texting with still 65% battery left.

-i bought one of these portable charges for my iPod...if you don't use them for a while they just die out.But I'm guessing that goes for all batteries?

-GPS is a killer. FYI i used the navigation on the S2 for 1 hr yesterday from NYC to Woodbury commons.... started at about 65 -70% and then battery was dead upon arrival....idk is this ok and normal?

- battery does get a bit hot when connected & charging and in use.(browsing and msg-ing)

-besides that.... the battery is decent consider the beast phone we are dealing with. on weekdays checking emails and some msg-ing. playing some games here and there..can last me through the work day 7-7
weekend is bad when you start playing with the phone for no reason.. battery has no chance.

That's one of the Li-ion battery characteristics. If you don't use it regularly, it will loose it capacity temporary. However, once you start using it, after a few cycle, it will go back to full capacity.

GPS receiver will drain battery significantly.

My best day on the tmobile S2 was 15 hours with 60% battery remaining. This was with downloading movies, playing games, and web browsing.
