Battery

Why does Cell Standy and Phone Idle use so much of my battery? And what is Social Location and how can I stop it from running? I ask because this past week or 2 I can't even get through half the day without having to recharge my phone.

Right now my phone has been off charge for 2 hours and Im already down to about 70%. The stats are as followed.

Cell Standy 44%
Phone Idle 35%
Display 10%
Android OS 9%
Social Location 2%

As I posted in another post:

The usage is not of the total battery, but of the amount of charge that has been used.

in your case, your phone is at 70% charge (meaning 30% used).

of that 30% used, you show:

Cell Standy 44%
Phone Idle 35%
Display 10%
Android OS 9%
Social Location 2%

Doing the math, you get:

Cell Standy 13.2% of total battery charge
Phone Idle 10.5% of total battery charge
Display 3% of total battery charge
Android OS2.7% of total battery charge
Social Location 0.6% of total battery charge

If you really think that that 0.6% is gonna make a difference (and in this case, extrapolating to 100% you get a total of 2% of your entire battery charge going to Social location) I think that trying to find that is really not going to be an issue.

4G phones use more battery than 3G phones, and your best bet is going to be either getting an extended battery (they seriously work) or else stop using your phone so much during the day. I use mine moderately to heavily, and with my extended batteries I'm averaging about 15 hours a day.

Battery sucks on this phone. I shouldn't have to turn my phone into a huge heavy device with the extended battery just to make it through one day. I bought an extra battery off Ebay instead

My 4G isn't even on. That's why I cant understand why my battery is dying so fast all the sudden.

odd how 2 days ago I unchecked VZW location services under Location and Security settings and yesterday was the first day I had good battery life on a standard battery. With moderate use I went 17 hours 30 minutes on my phone yesterday and it was left at 30% battery when I plugged it in last night.

Though I am still having issues dropping data connection. I do not think they are related.

You sound like most other people, with the battery issue, this bionic just drains the battery so quickly.. I have tried all settings, i have my good days and bad days on the drainage issue.

But think this out, most of us using the bionic, have a connection issue, 3g to 4g,dropping, getting stuck, and no internet connection.. What i see,,when this happens, is a drastic drain on my battery, dont believe we will get a good picture on the battery drainage, till an update from motorola via verizon to fix the connectivity issue. Once that is said and done...then we can judge and look into the battery issue.

Just a thought

I tried Socila Location on one day and quickly turned it off.

I think that you might be running GPS all day and that is the reason the battery is draining so fast.

Try switching GPS off.
