Help BBC embedded radio clips

action09

Newbie
Just switched to DHD from a std Desire.

No problems viewing the embedded bbc clips ie footy highlights / interviews but I cannot get the live radio commentary to stream. Both these functions worked fine on Desire.

Any ideas on how to get them working?

Are you using the BBC iplayer app? also are you using Wifi or just the mobile network?

Wi-fi connection

Not using iPlayer app, as its Radio Scotland which is embedded in the Scottish Premnier League football Web pages........it looks like its away to work then silence. as I said, it worked perfectly on my Desire. The video clips are fine.

It's temperamental for me at best, I couldn't listen to the Aberdeen Vs St Johnstone game last night (same issues as you), but sometimes it works fine.

I was playing about today and found that it would work every time if I went to the BBC Mobile site, then the Radio & Music section, then selected the station I wanted to listen to. When I clicked on the broadcast I wanted, I chose "Streaming Media Player" as the app to use.

I've not tried iPlayer, that might work ok too.

Does that help at all?

You might want to try a different browser?

Any joy with this? Ive been having the same problem for a couple of months and its doing my head in not being able to listen to games when im out. Ive tried a few different browsers and ive also tried it through wifi and nothings worked.

Cheers

I actually think it's the way the BBC website streams certain items.

I used to be able to listen to the same links on my PC at work (they use some funky firewall settings), now no dice. Some clips work fine however. I tried on my phone and the links I can't view at work, don't work on the phone either.

I recall from another thread that there's a browser called Miren which you can set to emulate chrome and iPlayer works just as it would with a desktop PC. Might want to try that?

I deplore the way the BBC takes our licensing fees but continuously strives to limit how we can access the content we've already paid for.

But the point of the post is to confirm what you've said about the Miren browser - just go into settings and set the UA to emulate the Chrome desktop browser and, suddenly, you can access the full-fat iPlayer with all its benefits, such as being able to sign in and define favourites.

If it's live radio you're all after, i'm sure a dedicated radio app would be the best way to listen.

I recommend TuneIn Radio.
