BBC Formula One online stream

Hi,
I'm very tempted by the Desire and while this wouldn't perhaps be a deal breaker, it might be a deal maker.

I like my F1 and if I'm out & about I'd like to watch the various live sessions over the weekend via the BBC website.

Can anyone with a Desire confirm whether the live streams for practice, Quali and the race work please?

It uses flash so I'm hopeful....

there are atleast 2 websites i know of that work on the desire where you can watch live tv (well 30 seccond delay) but never tried the iplayer on my desire
 
oh and also there is an iplayer app so u could watch it but i dont think you can watch it live on the app
 
There are apps for example I have F1 Live Racing which has a countdown to the next race, timetable, clasification, results, live comments for the race lap by lap.

To watch it, there is tvcatchup.com which you can view live TV channels through the phones browser.

...if you can get it to work. Some of us havent yet. Mind you it is beta

There is also yamgo. Quality not great though.
 
It seems to work fine for me, works better when the world cups not on less people trying to use it i guess. Yeah i have yamgo aswel they both work, i would say that the quality on yamgo is lower.

Also noticed that tvcatchup.com seems to stream better on H than through my wifi, guessing its the rubbish connection am having recently.
 
Thanks for the replies. It seems tvcatchup may work well for the coverage which is live on BBC1 but I suspect they don't cover the Red Button coverage of the practice sessions. Hence the query re the online streams.

Has anyone managed to get the BBC website online streams of practice to work on the Desire?

edit: actually the F1 probably uses the same system as the world cup so can any desire owners get the live video on this page to play?

If you are feeling adventurous you can root your phone and install froyo with flash, I watched last fridays practice on my phone from the imbedded video on the bbc sport website.

The F1android app provides a very reasonable live timing feed.
 
There is a new app called myplayer that is based on iplayer. I tried it and the quality is not bad. Though keep in mind it's still in beta and i'm not sure if it has been developed by BBC.

Hi, I've been lurking since getting my Desire but first time posting, thought I'd chip in as this is one of the things I've been looking for options on also.

To confirm your suspicions, F1 on the bbc.co.uk/formula1 site uses Flash 10.1, same as the world cup and bbc live channel streams. So unfortunately we miss out on watching the practice sessions :/

I am keenly awaiting Slingplayer for Android to go public but who knows how long they will be!
