Be honest - it's shite !

I have to say it does wind me up when people give it "Oh it's a new product - it will have problems, just wait until the next release, it will all be fixed" - not only does this come back to the point that someone made earlier, that when you buy a product you expect it to WORK - it is one of the most basic and obvious of principles, it is an *expectation *when you part with your cash. Also, I have entered into a 2 year contract with this phone - so what good is it to me knowing that the next release 'will work properly' and I'm stuck with a shoddy phone for 2 years? No good at all, that's what!

That said, I've yet to discover weather some of my problems I am having with this phone are phone or network related. I will be putting my Orange SIM into my old SE C510 phone to see if this has any sort of improvement, as I am getting sick of this: it is my first smartphone and I have to say I am now wondering why I bothered.

Not meaning to be cocky or anything, just curious what made you buy it despite you hating SE?

well after the 850i i swore off se. but i read reviews on this phone, read magazine articles and watched videos on it and it really impressed me. and i knew se always had great cameras in their phone. the 850i had a 5 mp camera, so after the shit camera on the old bb 9700 i knew i needed something better and i wanted an android phone. clearly i didnt research the phone nearly enough even though all the reviews i read, including ones on here, stated it as a great phone. all the reviews were wrong. i decided to give se another shot hoping they had fixed their issues and it turns out they still produce shit phones. again hopefully 2.1 fixes some of the issues.

I get what you're saying. And I have to agree that it's a hassle to call someone, but then again I just have them as direct dial links on my desktop. I guess you really like the Android OS but just that SE did a poor job of implementing their own software into the OS. Could've been a perfect match, but dumbasses seem to be running SE these last few years lol

thats exactly it. i love the android os. my buddy has an htc phone and its pretty cool, but se has ****ed things up. i like how its an open source phone, that you can get an app to wipe your ass if you choose to and most of them are free, but there are too many quirks

i got this two weeks ago and am trying everything i possibly can to avoid being stuck with this lemon for the 36 mth contract i just started.
I have experienced all you stated and many more...you likely have had more problems too...you just get tired typing them out....navigation konks out.....forced closes....a term i had never heard of..i swear...til researching my various problems on x10
no joke...this forum is where i learned the term forced close....as my unit does it when checking weather, email...google maps...heck..that is when the laggy open swipe lets me even get in..or i am not stuck in camera mode like i was one day..unable to exit it...no matter what i hit.

no brand new model should be so laggy, bug prone, slow despite its fast processor...but real life speed is the one to judge by. not specs. i hate it. i want to smash it to bits frankly.

im sur emost people are having the same issue they wont wont say anything, trying to convince themselves they got a good phone and they dont mind its quirks. i tried doing that at first and then played with an old i phone and was blown away by how much smoother and faster it was.

hope you dont get a phone call while in camera mode. last time that happened the screen went black and only the buttons lit up and i had the yank the battery

yeah image that, you buy a car or motorcycle, first run, and find out the brakes have some quirks and youre not stopping for that red light. but its ok, its a first year run itll have issues. not acceptable. heres a fact. se launched this piece of shit early to compete with the iphone4. they wanted it out before apple had their new phone. they did, they sent a faulty phone out. plain and simple

mine is really fast and never hangs, mine battery last 2 days and hours heavy use, i jst delete facebook app and dont let automatic updates, people would think x10 is crap by reading you but you really having problems cause mine doesnt show a single probs. only the flash camera sucks, its the best and more powerfull phone i have had in my life , being a person who change phone every 3 months I dont wan to change this phone, his clear big screen and amazing fast web browser, expandable capabilities via market for free, you dont believe what my x10 can do, so please take opur phone to se service under warranty, cause even i dont trust sony e for smarphones this is AMAZINGLY POWERFUL. for those talking that they want an iphone there nota thing that iphone does that this phone cant do... but viceversa iphone sucks, boring just one day to see all thing from iphone im still learning from my x10... yes 1.6 donut FASTER than nothing, read really lots of stupid complains, cause this is not shite , far from that its almost perfect but you need to tweek and add some apps from market, maybe 2.1 solve issues

Okay guys, people can love or hate their own phones, it's fine...you like it, keep using it. don't like it, move on with another phone...

there are also things called different expectations, faulty units, and how a user handles their phone. just keep in mind that all those factors play into the outcome of the phone experience.

No it didn't exactly deter me and it didn't exactly help my decision completely(and you didn't sugarcoat it, you did very well

I really am in love with the Blue...Like it is freaking beautiful
But then I am like...

it's 1.6...I am on 2.1 now so thatis like a step down

But then there is the captivate and i can get it and still be on 2.1 except idk if i like the UI and i hate using Launcher pro because i want to use the UI that is standard with the phone

Then i take in account the camera and the Xperia has a great camera and the Captivate has one with no flash...so ehhh

Does anyone have Picsay pro on their phones?
That is a must have app and when i had a 1.5 eris, i wasn't able to use it...
So i am wondering if it is on 1.6

Well Picsay pro shows up in the market, and AFAIK apps that don't work on 1.6 don't show up. I could be wrong tho!

well, your words said that seems you had decided to buy the x10, i read you are model , well let me tell you the x10 is powerfull, for some people timescape doesnt is useful but, exemple for you that use facebook alot it synchronize with facebook and twiter, there an infinite button that collect togueter info from friends, thats a recognized face from 5 friends, i dont use it but is nice how it works for the eye, and its blue, with the new r20026 there are other background colors for timescape like purple yellow green etc. the worst thing from xperia is that seems outdated but in the hands is fast , beautyful and customizable. if you have the money buy it if you can get money from your droid its will be less if when you have the xperia you are not happy there,s always more phones, but xperia kick as s, yes with 1.6

I just want to add that the Captivate is the buggiest Android phone I have ever used. There are some very deep seeded issues with the OS and, as someone else said in this thread, I tried to convince myself to overlook the flaws. I just couldn't do it. I have not experienced any real issues with my X10a on AT&T so go figure. Also, the X10 picks up signal in places all my other phones would not. I'm not sure why that is.

yes vignette is very good cause have lots of filters, I use to have the demo version that its on market but he mpix are limited to 3.1 or vga. but a friend send me the paid version, and now i cant take pics with 8mpx and automatic flash. well we know its led light not to say flash. but its good to set this as default camera app.
