Just wanted to let ya know that according to the email i recieved from demandprogress.org seems after all the petition signed we have been able to show congress that we wont go down without a fight. heres what the email said.

"
Wow. We just won.
From the Associated Press:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he was postponing a test vote set for Tuesday "in light of recent events."
So, in other words, because of all of us. Absolutely amazing.
Demand Progress has been fighting this legislation for more than a year -- having grown from nothing to over one million members during that period"

Even the Motion Picture Association's Chris Dodd is awed by what just happened. Here's what he said yesterday:
“This is altogether a new effect,” Mr. Dodd said, comparing the online movement to the Arab Spring. He could not remember seeing “an effort that was moving with this degree of support change this dramatically” in the last four decades, he added.

Another email i recieved just now.

Hi everyone!

A big hurrah to you!!!!! We’ve won for now -- SOPA and PIPA were dropped by Congress today -- the votes we’ve been scrambling to mobilize against have been cancelled.

The largest online protest in history has fundamentally changed the game. You were heard.

On January 18th, 13 million of us took the time to tell Congress to protect free speech rights on the internet. Hundreds of millions, maybe a billion, people all around the world saw what we did on Wednesday.

check out the results and stats on this link wow did we actually beat this????

More than seven million people signed a petition on Google saying that passage of the legislation would result in censoring the web and impose a regulatory burden on businesses.

BBC News - Sopa and Pipa bills postponed in US Congress
thanks and you too on ur link it said
about 40 co-sponsors for the Pipa bill, a handful withdrew their support on Wednesday, as thousands of websites participated in a co-ordinated online protest. BAHAHAHAHA SUCKAH!!! that shows them not to mess with our american freedom.

Online petitions are worthless, no way to verify who's actually signing them. SOPA also is anything but dead, it's been put on the back burner for now but it will be back. Obama and other politicians are just posturing right now, it's a common tactic used to mislead people into believing they're getting what they want.

SOPA sent back to the drawing board in wake of Internet protests - latimes.com

The SOPA online piracy bill that helped spark this week's unprecedented Internet protests will be redrafted, its lead sponsor said Friday.
That's political speak for "make the sheep think they won".

It will lead to a new non commercialized internet or something along those grounds. Where freedom is stepped on it will rise again in a new and different manner.

I've just deleted a number of "heated" posts because an innocent comment was take the wrong way. Remember guys, the rules imply we're to attack issues, not each other. We're all about freedom of speech here and we've no issues with you voicing your opinion, just as long as you're civil to each other. ;)

As this has nothing to do with the LG Esteem, I'm going to close the thread. If you'd like to continue the conversation (politely), we've quite a hefty thread about SOPA, it's ramifications etc here: http://androidforums.com/politics-current-affairs/457755-sopa-internet-censorship-bill.html

If you've issue with this, feel free to PM me, I'm happy to discuss it further. :)
