Root Beats Audio

At least I didn't get rid of my trusty old OV!!! lol I will keep this bricked OE if you need a tester!!
 
Ok just brainstorming here, though I am not at all familiar with ROM builds wish I was, since the source code is officially public, couldn't we create a update.zip file from the source and flash it through the stock recovery console?

Just curious as again I am not too familiar with Rom building.
 
Boot in to recovery mode and follow the process to root the phone. Works like a champ...Back up and runnint on my Elite!! Although not sure on 3g connectivity as I will have to reprovision my phone tomorrow since I already activated my old OV.

EDIT:

I did a ##786# to return it to factory settings, i.e. no phone number assoc. and 3g came online and asked me to activate the phone...so...I think this will unbrick the other persons phone too..Give it a whirl!!

You should check 3g as soon as possible
A way to know is hit # in the dialer. If you are redirected to a menu then you broke data

Nope all good!! The 3g activates when you go through the activation of the phone again. I will update with news once the phone is fully activated. Gotta wait 24 hours to swap it out again since I had to get back on my Optimus V until this one was fixed.

so wait, start lgnpst in recovery mode on the phone? or start lgnpst while the phone is in download mode and choose recovery mode in lgnpst?

-Phone in recovery
-Plug phone in via usb
-verify COM port
-open LGNPST
-flash
-check 3g
-If 3g is not there, open dialer ##786#-->Reset Default-->Enter Code
-Phone will reboot.
-You will have to go through the reactivation process

Should be good to go. You will have to finish the rooting process if you go with jcase's .TOT file.

hmm...wonder if leaving diag mode causes this from the original root. Can anyone else check this out?
 
I hope you guys realize before going to too much work with this, that beats audio does less for the sound than installing a custom EQ app from Play right? Just wanted to make sure. Carry on.
 
If I have to guess, I would say you still had DIAG mode enabled from before and that may be why this worked for you.

I've only had the COM ports show up in DIAG mode or download mode.

More wanted to get the phone unbricked then getting beats to work! lol

Got a little impatient to find out so I called virgin Mobile back saying the swap wasn't successful and need to revert back to the Elite. And all is well everything is working as before.
