Root beatsAudio

Dose Anyone Now If beats audio really works:confused: i got the idea from this link ===>> (MOD)Beats Audio(2.3+up)07/02/12 - xda-developers

I had been able to get Beats 314 working in CM7 without issue but think I may have needed to remove the DSP manager. With 5.1 the DSP manager definitely needed to be removed. Would also cause most Music players like Play Music from the Market to Force Close unless installed as a system app. I know jarjar124 has done a decent amount of testing with Beats and could probably tell you more.

Yes I have tested the latest ones(06/29 n 07/02) like chairshot215 said..for some reason certain roms r not compatible like froyo cream n minimal but does work with sharp :) however not all files r compatible. I still didn't figure out which since I didn't test but I already noticed a difference when using the files from the etc folder and the soundfx folder of the lib folder of the file. I noticed a difference right away. The bin folder also is compatible, it's something in the lib folder that causes the mt not to boot. Also dsp manager is working for me. I'm using cm9 as of now n a huge difference in bass. Dsp works great. Hope I helped. Tell me if u need anything.

Hey, to help the community, we need to call out what we test so others will know what has been tried. Also call out your current ROM.

I'll start :)
Version 06/29 and 07/02 is not compatible with :
Minimal triumph
Froyocream sandwich
(all I tested so far)
Is compatible(not all files) :
Cm9
Aokp
Sharp rom
(again,all I tested so far)
Version 03014 is compatible with all roms mentioned above.

**Note: latest versions of beats audio sounds better than older versions**
U tell versions by date

I had 314 running on G60's second release. 5.1 on G60's 10th and is included in Re-Stock. Needed to install Play Music by placing in system/app, otherwise will FC if installed from the market.

Forgot to mention u will not b able to toggle on/off beats audio..u only can hear the difference. If u want the beats icon while playing get the headset icon app from the google play I believe. Not 100% sure. I need someone to confirm this app.

I installed it on the latest starship and it fc my dsp manager. also i cannot find it anywhere in the files... is it really there!?

With Re-Stock I had needed to remove the DSP so imagine if you installed on Starship it would be the same as they are practically the same under the hood. I don't think DSP is missed with Beats but will need to decide what you prefer. I know with 5.1 it needed 4 HTC audio APK's in the System App folder so if it did flash correctly you would see HTC APK's in the system/app directory. What I did with Re-stock was unzip the Beats package via 7zip and then moved each file into the source individually before compiling. With Starship you would need to remove the DSP manager APK from the above mentioned System/app folder and then also remove another file I for the life of me cant remember. I will look at Re-stock once I get home but there is another file called CyanogenDSP or something like that and will be found both in the Rom and in the Beats zip. Could have swore it was a lib but can't seem to find it in my phone at the moment. Should be home soon but if you grow impatient you can unzip the Beats package and in one of the folders find CyanogenDSP_something. Originally had both Beats and HD Youtube included with Starship also but decided it conflicted with the idea of making it the most minimalist Rom possible as it consisted of 30 some files including the 4 HTC APK's.

If you still run into problems you could try the following using 7zip for windows.

Open both the Starship and Beats .zip by right clicking the files and selecting "Open Archive" in the 7zip menu.

Individually move each file from the Beats Archive into the same Starship directory the file is found inside the Beats.zip. Will be apparent ware to put them once you have both open as an Archive. Should only take a few minutes.

You will eventually come upon the CyanogenDSP file I was talking about. You don't want to copy this file over and will want to delete it from the Starship Archive. Dont remember what the issue was but know I removed this for a reason. Was actually Moms Day when I did this as do remember being late for dinner on account of this process, lol.

After moving the files over you should have a Starship Rom with Beats. You will however now have Force Close issues with a few audio related Apps installed from the Market like Play Music:(.

The workaround for this is not to install from the Market but place the APK inside the System/app directory and will be installed after rebooting the Phone.

This is what I had done for testing before including with the Rom as I also noticed files had been missing after flashing the Beats.zip. Also a good opportunity for checking out whats inside. Should also mention I had only done this with Beats 5.1 and cant verify any other version.

I tried what you said and couldn't get it working.... just did a restore.. dsp works good enough :smokingsomb: I appreciate the replay and your work.

i installed the beats and i liked the sound quality, made everything very crisp and the bass sounded alot better, only thing i didnt like was it also made the audio seem to be alot lower in volume

and there may or may not be a fix, but just for people who have never installed it before, the beats audio is like an advanced equalizer, and it will cause any other audio software like dsp manager or volume + to crash for it to be able to run, also if the music player was already running using dsp or volume + that will also crash and require a simple restart for it to begin working again

The biggest problem is that there is no way to verify whether if it actually works or not. There is no notification, no running app, etc. No way to toggle it on or off to test the contrast.

I flashed Beats Audio on my Triumph using MIUI 1.11.25 and the stock player force closes. However, I have Pro Player v2.44 installed and it works just fine. I also run Audio Manager which seems to work fine.

***Update...I restored the backup I made before installing Beats Audio. I was using the Beats Audio Installer in conjunction with Equalizer, which would not work with Beats Audio 7/2/12. What I like about the Equalizer is it handles all system sounds including ringtones as well as music played with media players and streaming apps. The only drawback is it is only a 5 band Eq.

I have PlayerPro as well and now I can't use the equalizer. Did you have the same issue?

Okay I'm running sharp ver6 rom. I downloaded the 7/02 beats audio zip and installed it using clock work recovery. It boot looped. I did a battery pull and it still boot loops. I am re-installing my nandroid backup right now. I read a post that 0314 works. Is this what I should try? There are quite a few links to downloads of different versions on the XDA page. Any suggestions, am I doing something wrong?

Coming from a phone that actually came with beats audio support, its really just a marketing gimmick. I can turn it on and off while listening to music and its basically just like the old "loud" setting on old stereos.

I agree. I flashed the mod and honestly the audio sounded scratchy and worse than no equalizer at all.
