Before I upgrade to 2.2

Hi ,
My fingers are crossed that orange release 2.2 update this week!!
What do I need to do backup wise and how? Or do I have to start again from scratch once I have the new software?

I didn't back up anything, although i've got the backup option ticked in settings.
