So I have a special occasion coming up soon and would like to do something special for my fiance. I hate doing the usual bs like dinner/movies/flower/candy etc. Anyone have any good ideas they would like to share?

I don't like doing the usual b/c dinner/movies is way overdone. I only give her flowers by surprise not occasion (makes it that much more special.) And neither of us are big candy people.

Input?

Figure out her favorite activities, and then do them, whether you like them or not. Then COOK for her, YOURSELF. Look up recipes if you must. Above all, LISTEN to her for HINTS. She'll drop plenty of hints you just need to keep your ear to the ground. Regards.

Get her a spa day if she's into that kind of thing and while she is there relaxing and being pampered follow up with what IOWA said about cooking for her... Look up some recipes, my wife esp love's a couple of dishes I'll make for her just because, fried rice with terriyaki chicken, chicken and dumplings, cornish game hens and wild rice, one winter break I made her a home made from scratch pot of brocolli cheese soup. Recipes arent that hard to follow, just pay attn to detail, the effort and time you spend cooking her a good meal combined with being pampered all day at a spa might get you a john holmes sort of moment lmao. ;)

if you have the $$$, go on a small trip. there are plenty of places a couple hours away that are something completely different that neither of you have gone to.

just went to Clearwater Beach with the wife for a weekend. spent maybe $300 total, it was awesome and something we have been meaning to do for a couple years.

I live in your area =) How did you spend almost $300 at the beach?? We go to the beach every now and then but it's not really something she adores. BTW, I live in Holiday.

Thanks for the few tips. I can understand how cooking is special to some of you guys....but I cook everyday actually so it wouldn't be all that special to her. I've been keeping an eye out for a good concert but nobody that she has interest in will be in the area.

As far as her favorite activities, I got lucky with this girl. She HATES shopping, she's more of an inside person that likes to watch tv or play a game with me. That's why I'm having a hard time trying to figure something out. She isn't hinting to anything either b/c she isn't expecting anything "big" to happen.

Keep the ideas coming!

Find a place away from the city, like somewhere in the countryside. Find an opening, wait for a clear night, go there and stargaze. My fianc

John Holmes isn't the best reference; he didn't end well.

I would find a romantic hotel somewhere and enjoy a nice weekend there.

I wanted to change my s/n but didn't want to lose post count. :p

Want to spot me the money for that? She will only go to one place and it costs about $300-400 a night. =(

What is the occasion? I think anniversaries and birthdays are much different imo.

If she is the type to like a good thrill or just something differnent. Sky dive, it is like a day long class and relatively cheap for a special occasion. It is something different and unforgettable. I know it is not traditionally romantic, but sometimes just doing something really fun and out of the ordinary is better depending on the women.

Sometimes the dinner works just fine if it is in a place you dont usually go. Spend the weekend in Orlando?

Edit: gallandof beat me, I answered a phone call while writing! damn you!

concert... if there is not a favorite band...

find one of those .. music in the park type concerts..
something cheeze... no big deal...

Sky diving isn't a bad idea. IDK if she would do it. How much does it usually run for the class & all?

It's for our "3 year" anniversary, and the mark of the end of a happy engagement. We will be getting married on our 4 year anniversary. (Next year.) We were smart enough to prolong the engagement to make sure those "live-in" issues can be handled before we get married.

Buy her a new car with a big red bow on top, like from the Lexus holiday commercials. That usually works!
