Root Being Rooted Prevent OTA update?

Will being rooted prevent the OTA update to 2.2? I have a Motorola Droid rooted before the 2.1 update. The 2.1 went very smoothly. For 2.2 I got the notice for the update but it had an error message with the triangle. Verizon and Motorola support said that the regular process would push the update to me again but it has been a week since then. I am wondering if I should unroot.

Well, I have rooted and received OTA updates. However, after flashing a stock image the other day, I no longer received the Froyo updates I was originally receiving. No idea as to why since I had it happen with the same image a good 4-5 times last week.
