BeiTa Plugin

A friend messaged me this morning with a problem on her phone. She's trying to remove a plugin called BeiTa Plugin and thinks it may be malware, but she hasn't been able to remove it with any malware removers from the Playstore. She says it's a virus or trojan, but I can't find much, if any, info on this online.
Any suggestions on how to remove or identify this?
I am having the same issue and it's driving me crazy. I'm with MetroPCS and did a system update two weeks ago, that's when it all started. I took the phone to Metro with NO help.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8. I got a BeiTa Plugin on it and it was putting ads up and found it very hard to get my phone on so I could get to my apps and stuff. I found it was a BeiTa plugin when I clicked the lower left button that shows me all the apps that are open on my phone and allows me to close them. I first looked for BeiTa in my apps and couldn't find it. So I took a closer look at in in my running apps and noticed the app pic had 3 ... with a rectangle around them. So I looked at my apps again and found a messenger that one of my apps had me install on the side. I removed it and my phones back to normal with no ads popping up.

She sent me this screencap. The other image pops up every time she finishes a phone call

That exact thing appeared on my Samsung Galaxy S9+ today! I'd like to know how to get rid of it, too. I can't find it in my Apps list, and there's no "Smart Scan" app on my phone.

I too found that my battery was depleting very quickly, nuisance ads were being served frequently prior to doing the pattern login, but I couldn't find the app: "Smart Scan -QR & Barcode Scanner Free", but i remembered installing it a few months ago. It seems that this bad behaviour started occurring after a recent auto-update of that app, which I discovered listed on MyApps/updates, I clicked on it and was able to uninstall from there. So far it seems that BeiTa Plugin has vanished and also the annoying ads. Thanks all and I will update this if it recurs.

The offending app on my Samsung Galaxy S8 was also Relax Music. I do also have the Smart Scan app, so will watch to make sure it isn't also causing the problem. Does anyone know if this adware/malware/whatever-it-is is hijacking legit apps since there are a number of them and it uses their varying logos, or whether these are all bad apps?

Had the exact same issue. Everytime I tried to close the Beita app, it would reproduce another instance of it. Found it was also Smart Scan on my S9+. Deleted the app and problem solved. Here is what the icon for both Beita and Smart Scan looked like on my phone. Good luck to others who run into the issue.

Thank you all I was struggling to get rid of pop ups. This whatever came with a step counter app for me & the icons were the same. Could not find it in my apps. You all are life savers or at least sanity savers.

It's rampant everywhere. I found it on TouchPal's free version on my Samsung S7 piece of crap. What scumbags!

I can't find the Scan software mentiojnedbefore. I'm rooting my phone. That's it. Those guys are plain idiots.

Unfortunately, It's still on both of my devices now. I suspect TouchPal is one fo the culprits. What possesses a fairly intelligent person from pushing idiotic ads on someone's personal and private work tool?

I finally found the weakest link: Samsung. Has anyone else experienced those ads on anything but a Samsung?

Samsung devices spy on people and pushes ads. They did the same last year. It sounds they're at it again. I'll never buy anything from that company again.

I deleted the Drink Water app & it still came back.

First of all I need to tell you that I DO NOT have a SAMSUNG, I have an alcatel. I was plagued by BeitaPlugin for about 3-4 weeks, I was determined to find a FIX.!! I used the bottom R-hand clear button to clear ALL the open screens, I would see the BeitaPlugin screen in the Title BAR.. I would tap on it & it there would 2 of all the screens that were opened. I thought it was a virus, malware etc..& I tried a couple of anti-virus or malware but they didn't help. I found 2 videos that helped. FIRST one I found is precautionary APP. The SECOND (10 mins.) gets rid of it & it explains everything you need to do.
