Bell 2.3 Gingerbread

Hmmm...downloaded it, but on the reboot, all I get now is a yellow exclamation mark inside a triangle (with the Android robot)...and the phone stays on that screen - can't seem to get out of it!

Had to remove battery manually to get it to shut down and reboot...

Have CWM installed...figured I'd try to install the update manually from CWM...but when I select Apply update from Zip and select the file:

OTA_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_BM_2.28.666.3-1.37.666.3_release_1996915a77tbflmphcmnen.zip

I get:

assert failed: check_cid(getprop....
...
E:Error in /sdcard/download/OTA...
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

Anyone has any idea?

I installed ClockWork recovery thinking I'd unbrand it...but never ended installing any specific ROM...

Edit: It's apparently due to CWM...trying to figure out how to go back to plain old HBOOT

Installed it last night with no Issues to report so far. Seems like a nice improvement on overall performance and battery life.

I installed the update this afternoon and so far I am very pleased.
The phone is noticeably faster and the battery life is better.

And BTW, I dont have any issue with Wi Fi.

For the record...no SMS problems here, and no WiFi problems either.

And...they now have WiFi proxy! Fina-friggin-ly! Have a proxy at work, and couldn't use WiFi at all, which was kind of annoying (especially since it's been on the iPhone since day 1).

Other thing I say (along with the WiFi proxy) in the advanced WiFi Settings (Setting / Wireless / Wi-Fi Settings / Menu+Advanced), there's a "Best Wi-Fi performance" option that's not checked by default.

Wonder if that's related to the WiFi issue that some have been complaining about for Gingerbread...

Oh, and one more thing - the video player now can play all my AVI (divx) directly. No need for some crappy external player!

Front facing cam is definitely still there as Tokoki said and have what i would estimate about a 10-15 % increase in battery life. I always factory reset before and after an upgrade. Maybe that helps with issues.
