[ROM] aospCMod for LG Optimus V | AOSP 2.3.3 / CM7 (Gingerbread) [03/25/2011] - xda-developers

My battery is fine on this, I get about 7-8 hours of heavy use and while its in standby overnight I lose like 3% over 8 hours. Better than I was getting on stock actually. 2.3 is just much better than 2.2 even if you can mod 2.2 to look like 2.3.

I agree 100% I get over 12 hours. with moderate to heavy use. I just hope they can get the MMS and Blutooth headset issue fixed then I'll have to reinstall everything !!! arrrgg:mad: Worth it tho! 2.3 rules!

And yes! to me I see a 30% speed increase.

Damn I did not know about the bluetooth thing. I have not rooted yet and I am trying to decide what I should go with.

Look at this way, if you cant live without MMS or BT headset then dont flash to Gingerbread but if you want a clean faster version of Froyo with the benefits of a rooted phone(overclocking etc.) then yes flash it. Just after you flash the new recovery mode, (Before you flash the ROM) make sure to back up your existing system so you can keep your original ROM.

I'm confused. Is there a fully functional 2.3 ROM out there for the Optimus V? Most I hear of don't have MMS and BT working.

I'm running aosp. The only thing not working the bt. Right now I'm at 10 hours 22 minutes and still at 42% on my battery. This with 2 hours on angry birds, an hour on yahoo messenger, checking email all day, and a few phone calls. Aosp is the way to go.

For 2.3, the only one really worth considering is AOSP.
Zefie (the only alternative), hasn't updated in a while, and AOSP now has mms working. There is however still some bluetooth issues.

For 2.2
Stock + Xionia is a great rom, but it's showing it's age compared to some of the newer roms. It hasn't been updated in a months. Take a look at Rodimus, Nameless, Aphrodite, or Harmonia, to name a few of the more popular ones.

I have no issues with bluetooth on aosp. I love this rom.

[Edit.....BT works fine with Pandora and ESPN. Not so much with talking]

Bluetooth is working for some media, but not for phone calls yet on CM7. At the speed aosp has been squishing the bugs in his rom, I would imagine bluetooth should be fully functional before the end of May, probably alot sooner.

You really have to admire aosp and the cyanogenmod community, they have put together a rom that is better than anything you will ever see come stock on any phone! If we could just get carriers to certify cyanogenmod and make it an optional install path, I think those carriers that did would see android customer flocking to them!
