Best Alarm Clock App?

Trying Alarm Clock Xtreme here. I'm a super-heavy sleeper, and the stock alarm seems turn to itself off if you don't hit snooze or something in 10 minutes. I also like to snooze a lot, and found I kept hitting Dismiss instead. This one has math to shut it off, plus you can add an extra math problem for every time you hit snooze. Once you hit the button to turn it off, the alarm just starts repeating non-stop and disappears from the screen. So you actually have to go into notifications, open it up, then do the math problem (which also has four buttons other than the "submit" button).

Basically, if you wake up groggy enough that you'd fall back asleep, this alarm does not let you. My morning goes like this:

Snooze
Snooze
Accidentally hit Turn Off, thus setting the alarm repeating
Fumble around for a moment, too sleepy to figure out where the alarm disappeared to
Remember it's on notifications; try 3-4 times to gain enough motor control to open it
Realize that if it doesn't stop, it's going to wake up the husband, and drag myself into another room
Solve math problem
Accidentally hit Pass (see the above motor control thing)
Solve math problem again
Hit submit
Get the answer wrong because my brain's still asleep
Solve math problem one more time
Hit submit

Now I'm awake, completely out of the bedroom, and at least reasonably alert. I may even be able to drop a few of the 7 alarms that I use to wake up. :P

try smarter alarm, it can tell you time and weather, and even news and other things, also try alarm clock plus v2, they are both free and both very good.

I like Alarms from PalmarySoft. It's a carry over from my PalmOS days, and I was very glad to see this app on Android. I have a HTC Evo, so this may just be a Sense UI thing with the "stock" alarm clock, but it can't play music, it's also a little limited on scheduling repeated dates/times, snooze settings, etc.

I admit that I mostly (and quickly) chose Alarms because of my years of loyalty to PalmarySoft, so there may be equivalent/cheaper/better apps out there that do the same thing.

I do use the Super Clock Alarm application and it works great. You can activate the math function, whenever it will ring you'll need to do the math or else it will bean for long.

Haha, cheers! This is exactly how I am. I am using Alarm Clock Plus which has similar features. If I dont set the alarm to math I wont wake up!

I actually just realized this morning that Xtreme Alarm Clock also lets you set a limit to how many times you can hit snooze before it becomes "nope, can't snooze, math time!" Which is good, because I snoozed for over an hour this morning without even noticing. Oops.

Alarm Clock Plus for me. I set a very annoying tone as the alarm tone, then set it to be disabled by a difficult math problem. I'll be awake after a few minutes of my sleepy brain trying to fumble around with a stupid math dismiss lock.

Hi, I'm using samsung galaxy ace, I need alarm that works even when the unit is off. The standard alarm doesn't do that, or maybe I miss the setting to enable it..? anybody would have any suggestion how to set the alarm accordingly, or can suggest such alarm to be downloaded for free from android market? Have tried several free alarms from the market w/o success.
I'm also looking for free music player that is able to play m3.u file..any suggestion? Thanks in advance.

There is no way to do that. This is a smartphone and when it is off, it is off. You do not expect your personal computer to receive emails when it is off, do you? Do not expect the alarm to work when the phone is off then. Only dumphones are capable of doing that, and not all of them.

No, I don't expect my pc to receive emails when it is off, as no internet connection could be established. It doesn't require internet connection or connection with anything for alarm in phones (smart & dumb ones) to work. Thanks for the insight though.

Ok, do you expect to receive calls or sms when your phone is off? No you dont. Maybe that's a better analogy for you. :D

In all seriousness, there is no power in the phone, thus it cant alarm. Other phones that can do that do not actually fully power down.

I'm using Sleep as Android at the moment, as well as Smarter Alarm. SaA is nice because you can tell it to make you scan a pre-set QR code before you can turn off the alarm, so I put one in the bathroom, get up, scan it and get in the shower. Smarter Alarm is gentle and persistent, but you don't always feel like you want to turn it off because it's actually informative.

I used to use Alarm Clock extreme for the maths captchas etc, but once Sleep as Android introduced those and the QR codes, I couldn't resist (particularly since it is also sensitive to my sleep cycles and picks better wake-up times for me).

I've been having the same problem trying to find a calendar app or alarm app that I can set an alarm on more than 24 hours in advance. Regardless of "already knowing I have to get up" or whatever, I still want the ability to set alarm (not just a calendar reminder, which is useless) for over 24 hours...

Can anyone please suggest to me a really simple alarm clock? The default Android one is fine for waking me up, but I also like to have a daily chime at certain hours. I've yet to find one that will just play such a chime without all of the wake-up features. Basically, I just want it to play a notification sound of my choice (so, a ringtone) at the same specific time, every day, and
a) play it once and once only
b) not give me any snooze option popups
c) not use the vibration function

I mean, vibration and snooze and repeat are neat if you're waking up, but if this is just a daily chime, the last thing you want is the phone bouncing around wearing down your battery (or grinding itself into your keys) because you're not sitting right next to it one day. Hopefully in your searches for the perfect multi-function alarm clock, one of you may recall having spotted something simple like this.

Thank you!

Your profile doesn't say what phone you have, but I would imagine that the stock alarm clock on any Android phone could do what you want. The stock alarm clock is pretty much frills free.

Ah, sorry. HTC Incredible S.

The stock alarm clock doesn't allow snooze to be disabled at all, and duration along with most other settings is a global option not alarm by alarm which kinda sucks (you don't want a regular weekend alarm that just keeps going and going and going...).

Cheers.
