Best Android device for me?

Sorry, I know this is a lame question. I've been an Android user before and had a sour experience - just want to make sure I get things right this time around. I've done some homework, but I know there are upcoming devices I don't have on my list, and most importantly - I know specs; but I want the opinions of actual users.

I'm willing to go for any device that will work on AT&T's network. At the moment I have my eyes locked on the SII. I looked at the LTE version, but read that it gives up processing power for LTE - plus it's not available in Seattle yet anyway. I also looked at the new Nexus - I like it, although not as sleek as the SII. I could get it from Europe unlocked, but everyone I talked to says the SII is a better device - and will get ICS soon anyway.

What are your thoughts on those devices? What about others? Upcoming? Greatly appreciate any words of wisdom. Thanks.

Thanks pixaro. Question for you (and others that think S2 is the way to go)... Is there any reason to choose an AT&T branded model over an unlocked one from elsewhere (or vice versa)?

You'll likely get a chance for a lower price on the AT&T one, and better support.

And while the SGS2 comes in many varieties, at the end of the day, they're all equally SGS2 models.

Myself, I would go for the one fully supported.

Sumsung galaxy S2 if you have the money.. if you want a phone with a good performance at a lower pricce get Galaxy Ace s5830 or HTC Wildfire S

Have you looked at the Galaxy Note? Same specs as the S2 except it has a 5.3" 1280x800 HD display. It's definitely an awesome device to consider if you don't mind a larger device.

It's coming to AT&T pretty soon, but it will lose the Exynos again since it's not compatible with LTE. I have the international version, and boy is it amazing. You can't go wrong with S2, Note, or Galaxy Nexus. (I've owned both the Note and the Nexus.)

Thank you everyone, I appreciate the input, please keep it coming. Seems like the S2 is hard to beat. Kinda wish the S3 was more in sight so I'd feel like I'm getting something a bit more recent.

I'm gonna go look at the Note. I love the idea of it (and that it's more recent - even though same specs as the S2), but I fear the size will be too big.

I had an HTC Hero on Sprint. It was beyond buggy... It was slow. And Sprint has terrible service where I live. I replaced it with an iPhone 4, 4S, and a Samsung Focus S - all devices I've enjoyed, but I'm ready to give Android another shot.

oh.. yeah.. the hero was a dog.. in its native state.

i rooted mine and put on Froyo with no Sense.. and it was soo much better!
any android today will blow that away.

i went from hero to evo... and wow.. just lovin it.. having a hard time letting the evo go and use my upgrade. I am thinking of waiting for the sprint big ass screen (5.3 inch or more) phone.. and i can switch between the 2 phones as needed.

go with the Motorola Droid Razr!! :) I have that phone its really great!! Although I have to admit the Galaxy S II has a more vivid screen. haha
