Best app to boost ringer volume??

Whats the best app for boosting my ringer volume and also will it damage the phone by using it?

I'd like to be able to hear the ringer from another room at least...
 
Does it use up battery to leave volume+ running all the time? Can you set it as a startup app or do you need to open the app every time the phone is turned on?

I suppose I could figure out a Tasker for it???

Nope, it does not use up battery (except for when your speaker is putting out enough noise so you can actually hear it!)
 
It would be great if people would post screenshots of their slider settings. I'm too scared to move mine too much. Preferably non-rooted Gnex's.
 
+1 for Volume+. However, know that the actual quality goes down when you increase volume. This happens when increasing volume to the headphones, haven't tested the speaker.
 
I just tried this app and the device won't ring on an incoming call when it's installed. I made sure the ringer setting was set to high - but something is being blocked. I uninstalled and the ringer worked again.

That's the first time I've heard of that happening... Maybe the dev has heard of it before? Very strange... I've tried it in at least 10 different ROMs with every flavor of kernel I can find and it has been flawless on my phone. In any case, I'm sorry it didn't work for you. I could not have kept this phone if I had not found a way to improve ringer/speaker volume from stock.
 
These are my current settings, how high is it safe to go on each slider? My Gnex is NOT rooted!

I don't think there are unsafe levels for an unrooted phone. IIRC, an unrooted phone follows a volume loop if volume levels are pushed past its capabilities. However, for rooted users, the volume can be pushed through this loop, possibly causing the speaker to be blown out. All in all I don't think you have to be worried. To test it, test each volume level. If you notice the volume start to get quieter at some point while increasing the volume, then you know your phone is in the volume loop and the speaker is protecting itself from damage.
 
Thanks for that info but I'm really unsure which sliders to move for best quality. I don't understand the 'bands KHz' etc.
 
I've got my speaker volume at 15... way better... no issues... doesn't sound distorted at all...
 
I work in a noisy environment so to listen to music from my phone. I connect an AUX lead from phone to a midi hifi system then use PowerAmp to amplify the music more.
I am now wondering (and paranoid) that the excessive power will damage the phone.

I ran my old HTC Desire through the same set up but without Volume+ and damaged something because the phone cut out for 20mins and from then on the battery life suffered. Even new batteries would drain within 4 hours. This might have happened because I was only charging the phone via a USB socket on a printer and not the mains supply!

So paranoia and being scared of breaking the phone again is worth posting a few noobish questions here.

Will this Volume+ App boost the speaker volume of the navigation app? I have trouble hearing it when there is the least bit of noise in the car.

Yes, it is an overall speaker volume boost... ring, alarm, apps, music, nav, etc...
 
So I downloaded the app, (The paid one) Switched music effects to Volume+, went over to the volume+ app and enabled Audio Mods and Custom eq settings. Made up two custom settings, and loaded each of them. I have the volume on 20 and there is no difference in the volume when I play music or run the nav program. I tried rebooting the phone and double checked the settings... Nothing. When I slide the volume control in the Volume+ app, nothing. So let me try to reboot again.... OK there we go, never mind.

I want an app that I can boost the ring on the phone but maintain the phones eq settings. I'm finding the phones eq does a much better job then volume plus. I don't need all the extra stuff that volume plus does. Boost my ringer and leave everything else alone. I can't do both when enabling volume plus because it takes over everything. Is there another volume booster that I can do this with?
