I have a AT&T Galaxy S3 stock. Does anyone recommend an app I should use to back up my apps and other info without having to root my device?

what are you looking to backup?

you app purchases will always be stored in the playstore

app backup and restore will back up the install file to a external sdcard so you can reinstall offline

SMS backup+ wil backup your text and call logs

you cannot backup your game progress without root

I was pretty much looking for an easier way of creating a back up without going to several places to look for all of my info on my phone. Is app backup and restore an app?

yes it backsup all your installed apps as apk files to your exSDcard that way when you do a factory restore you can re-install right off the exSDcard(just make sure in your settings you have install from places other than the playstore ticked)

So is there no app or built-in function akin to iTunes' backup/restore of a complete phone, such that if I ever have to do a factory reset or a warranty exchange I can have my phone completely restored from a backup at the press of a single button?

Without data, my backup pro is by far the best non root backup app to have. +1 SUroot

what do you mean "without data" this is the best backup?

and do I need an external removeable SD card to do this, or in the GS3 is it just going to the 16GB of storage that I have? I have a 2GB removeable that I threw in there coming from an old phone, but it is kind of flakey it seems because a couple videos that I took had problems in playback and copying.

I wouldn't want to trust a backup to my flakey SD card.

I'd like the ability to do an easy re-load of all apps and settings in case I want to run a FDR. I haven't been able to get the new AT&T update and wondering if FDR would allow me to communicate with that AT&T server (I can't right now - it always fails)

You can do a full backup of your S3 using the S3 Toolkit- no root required: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746665

It does it via ADB over USB. I chose to do a full backup, but I think you can also do backups of just apps, user data, sd card, etc. Be aware though that if you do a full backup, it's just like a nandroid backup using a custom recovery, so it will basically put your phone back to exactly how it was the day you did the backup. If you're doing an OS update or the like, you'd probably want to only back up the apps & user data.
