Root Best Backup?

Okay, so due to an unexpected day off (waiting for plumber due to faulty water heater), I've decided to take my extra time at home and look into putting Froyo on my eMMC. One of the first things every method I've seen says to do is create a backup in case things go south. My first question is which method do I use - TiBu or ROM Manager? Do they do the same thing, or are they for difference purposes?

My second question is about ROM Manager. When I chose "Backup Current ROM" from the menu it tells me to install ClockworkMod Recovery before continuing. When I pick install, it wants me to confirm my model: Nook Color (old) or Nook Color; which do I choose and why?

Titanium Backup backs up the data used by your apps, and the apps themselves. So when you start fresh, you can restore your apps, so you keep your progress on Angry Birds, things like that.

Backing up through recovery or ROM manager, will make an image of your entire ROM at its current state (I replied in the other thread too about going through recovery)

Choose Nook Color, not (Old) so you get the newer version of CWM. The Old Version is no longer supported by the devs that made it.

Good luck.

Good information. Thanks much!:)

I have found that Titanium only halfway works on my NC. I can back it up with no problems. Restoring data I can't get to work with any sort of reliability. I use MyBackup Pro which seems to work very nicely for me, but there's no cloud storage of the backup.

I thought the CWR was borked on ROM Manager. Installing it will bootloop your NC.

You have to install the CWR separately from this thread (that you actually started):

So have they updated CWR in ROM Manager yet? If so, then disregard this, but otherwise read the other tread.
