Help Best Browser

on the eris there is a back button, your droid back button is the one on the far left, under the screen....lol

On the stock browser i have the option of zooming in to that magnifying glass and just shoot myself up or down the window i'm browsing quickly (Which is much more convenient than dragging the screen over and over until i get to the top or bottom). Is there anyway to do that with dolphin?

By default, Dolphin moves the zoom controls to the touch and hold menu which I prefer. If you like the stock on screen zoom controls, they can be turned on in settings.

On the Moment you hit the 'back' button either on the touchscreen or hit the backspace-ish button on the slide-out keyboard.

Not sure why there's people giving Droid advice here :p

Ok..still not seeing a back button on the touchscreen. What button on the slideout keyboard...I tried them all! The the hardware back arrow next to menu seems to work.

FYI volume keys work for page up/down (but with sounds). Space button does a page down.

If you go to the faq, there is a long list of shortcuts for the browser

The soft keys on the bottom of the touchscreen are: home, menu, back. They're part of the touchscreen though, so that's what I meant. On Dolphin, you can set up a gesture for forward/back I think...

With the keyboard out it's on the upper right. looks like <--

oh snap, i didnt even notice this was the moment section. pardon my intrustion....i get ahead of myself sometimes :D

Ok... I did get an update to 1.2.8. Still some weirdness:

1. Are we all talking about the dolphin browser?

2. While viewing a page (I have traditional zoon icons turned off), if I hit menu I get: go, add bookmark, start page, new tab, refresh, share page, show tab and more.

3. No back buttons anywhere I can see except the hardware back button above the red end key. And now if I hold that I do get the pop up menu.

4. Where is the FAQ for dolphin? I found this HELP (Dolphin Browser) but no shortcuts.

5. He talks about 8 buttons...slide to reorganize.
One step to access common actions

Slide to switch between windows.More top level menu button, all common actions can be found at the first level

Is there a setting somewhere in android that set the search icon on all menus?

does anyone know how to download a link within a page using dolphin? for instance, if i wanted to download an mp3 that had a link to it, i would normally right click and save-as. is there a "right click" option in dolphin? it automatically starts playing the file instead.

Press and hold on the link till the semi circle menu apears, choose link then save.

I just had a recent update this weekend for Dolphin that made the theme of the browser look even nicer! I thought shared that with everyone, but I'm pretty sure you all know that already. I like Dolphin, but maybe perhaps I will give Mozilla's Fennec a try when it releases for Android on 2010. :D

I hadn't used it but after this comment I had to try. After a hour or so playing with it I'm really diggin it. Like it better than the stock and seems faster too. I also like how you can customize your ouwn gestures. Very nice indeed. Thanks.

I'm not able to get the gestures working. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Wow, Opera Mini isn't working on the Moment??? I wonder why? I'm getting the Moment this in a couple of weeks and was hoping in installing Opera Mini as one of my first app downloads for the phone, but if you say it isn't working, then maybe I'll try the Dolphin since others are giving such good reviews on it.

I've been using Opera 9.x for the last year on my other phone. I think I was up to 9.7.x.

I can't say that I miss it in the least...

I'm having trouble finding a lot of difference between the browsers. Anyone have a good comparison/contrasting of the stock browser, Dolphin, and Steel?

I've been using Dolphin Browser and I like it a lot. Some of my favorite features included in Dolphin are tabbed browsing, pinch zoom, good long click functionality, and customizable gestures.

The default browser is probably the fastest, but I expect that to change when Opera Mobile (Not Opera Mini) comes out. It's in a beta for devs only right now but shouldn't be all that long till it's out.

Sounds like a press release =0) I like Dolphin as well, but why post it has pinch zooming when you know that's not something we have on our Samsung Moment right now?

Sorry, I didn't notice I was in the moment section since I came across this thread via google. I have the moto droid so pinch zoom is a nice feature to have and I was just listing what I like about Dolphin.

i understand that the latest release of dolphin 1.3.2 has ads. does anyone have the apk for the previous version. i just had my phone replaced so i lost it :( thanks!

I was kinda PO'd when I saw that they dropped ads in there, and with where they placed them (in a shady spot). But IMO, they're really not that bad.
They're only on the "Start page", which is not my start page. I see the ads very rarely, being that I have links on my home screens to the various sites I visit on a regular basis.
I still think dolphin's the best, and retracted an angry comment I put in the marketplace :)

I just downloaded a web browser from the android market called UC Browser which was developed in China. This app is zippy and responsive like opera mini. The downside is that the menu is in chineese but with graphical icons so I eventually figured out how to use this browser. The developer should be releasing an english version for android pretty soon but in the mean time you can try it out.
