At what point do they stop saying 'we know something you don't know' and start saying 'The thunderbolt is not ready yet. we are not sure how long it is going to take to fix whatever it is' or give us a date past when they think it will be available and make us all happy by releasing it before then.

I feel they will come out and say something when the pre-order numbers start going backwards due to people canceling. However, right now I fear it's working to their favor with all the buzz. People are pumped to jump on the train before it even leaves the station and be a "first". Though I doubt it was planned, more likely a problem found and they just went with it having no ETA on a fix and people were only able to grasp at numbers through leaks.

That's my opinion from having been a pre-release tester of multiple phones when I worked for nextel 99-00 and having worked in marketing and managed many major product releases in other tech industries.

so we can count this then?

HTC Thunderbolt Delivers Style And Speed On Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE Network

seems to be the exact same type of announcement article. the xoom one lacks a price/release date just like that t-bolt one does.

When he said about a press release, me thinks he was referring to the release date press release, like the one XOOM got on Monday that it would go on sale the 24th. Said press releases contain price, release date, and plan pricing along with possible accessory attachments that would be available at launch.

Edit: Beat me to it lol ;P

So hopefully we see an announcement monday. Also I think the ads on youtube and tv were takin down to add dates..

I think the phone is coming on the 4th. Honestly if BB has not retracted any info on the ad this thing might be announced on monday with a launch day of thursday. Who knows this might as well be wishful thinking but I would like to think anything positive right now, lol.

I've heard that Verizon releases their phones on a Thursday? Wouldn't that make a 4th release impossible?

Also, I've heard that the "release" date (if there ever is one) is now March 21.

I think march 4th is not set in stone. It is either march 3rd or 4th, and then we heard the 10th.

Verizon has been getting hammered on there facebook page
http://www.facebook.com/#!/verizon/posts/10150407796080123

"Verizon Wireless The Verizon Wireless Media Store is the exclusive place where iPhone 4 users can get Ringback Tones! Check out Verizon Media Store on the Web or on your phone’s browser."

You HAVE to see how many Thunderbolt comments there are on that wall post alone

and on another note, the 4th keeps getting thrown out because it was miscommunicated that the 4th is a Thursday when it is not, I say the 3rd or bust, with the announcement (if it is next week that is) on Monday
I mean we did hear rumors that they didn't want to take the "Thunder" away from the XOOM release (pun intended) and that some rumors were saying that some stores were saying they were requested to give XOOM a week to sell some units then the ThunderBolt could be released.

I'm all for giving the ThunderBolt its own killer ad campaign to get alot more third party support because of higher sales as a result, meaning more accessories, and possible docks and other goodies :D @_@ << see those eyes? I'm going crazy

My theory for this week:

Monday announcement pre-orders will begin on Thursday, March 3rd
Orders will begin shipping to customers on Thursday, March 10th

Theory, based on last years Incredible launch

so here's a question--relating to BB.
let's assume there's an announcement Monday, 9:05am, by Verizon. official press release including "yes, the phone is actually real--and we're officially announcing it'll be in stores this week" (once again this is strictly hypothetical)

they would continue to say, "available Thursday, March 3rd"

in BestBuy's terminology, would this constitute a Street Date (hard street date--no prior selling)--or is this more of a "expect it BY this date" and would BB then sell them if they got them in Wednesday?

most of what i read regarding release dates anymore involves "available", not the term "released". to me, Available is more of a lenient release date, whereas Released is "don't expect it any sooner"

(reason i ask---b/c Jay said something earlier about selling the phones upon receipt unless there's an expressed Street Date via Verizon)

My money is on the 3rd or the 10th for sure. I can't see it coming out too much later than that simply because of the other phones they will be releasing shortly after.

In regards to the ad, if it doesn't say a date of when it will be available and its advertised as such with no coming soon or a date at all, they would have to print an ad correction if its not available when that ad becomes active and state either its delayed or the new date.

I think putting it in ad again with the phone not being out next week is a mess for best buy. They have had more then enough time to fix the ad, almost over a week and there should be no reason, thunderbolt should be promoted two weeks in a row with no launch date in sight. Either BB is screwing up big time or it is really launching next week, if they dont have it next week, I think they will get a lot of pre orders canceled. Might as well wait for the bionic or lg revolution and see what they have in store. So much for LTE launch.

Wether verizon ever released the phone or not, they have certainly made a damn mess of this situation, and I am sure they will sell half as many units that they would have initially sold if they had kept up with the feb launch. The longer they wait to release it the more people will end up waiting for the motorola, lg and samsung variants of the 4g LTE phones. Plus Lg phone is suppose to have netflix on it.

I've stated this a dozen times before, these ads are printed months in advance, same with ads that run on tv, they are setup in advance of being aired, sometimes weeks or months.

in any case, Verizon and HTC are wasting all that money on cancelling advertising after it starts for just a few days, i'm sure they won't drag this out any longer than they really have to, at this point its becoming a burden to everyone, us included...

Not to be too negative, but as Filinator13 says, nothing's set in stone... and that just as well might include any of the phones that are set to follow the Tbolt. If there's a problem with LTE handoff on the Tbolt, how confident are we that the Bionic, Revolution, or Untitled won't have a similar issue? Entirely speculation, of course.

Anyone with some understanding of the technical wireless/software issues have any thoughts? Is it likely that Tbolt's issues are entirely wrapped up in its own software (whether it be Sense or something else) or something that could affect a variety of Android phones/builds trying to run 4G?
