Best Buy Details

If it gets in you system your only hearing it from VZW, no one else. VZW is NOT going to call up BB and say "hey go ahead and sell this before us". The date BB gets is the date VZW gets it.

Also I would not be surprised VZW gets it BEFORE BB. Why you ask? Let me tell you. Let's say this is all VZW fault. They intended to release in late March, but decided to bust A$$ and try and release on Feb 14th. They communicated this with BB since they are the exclusive retailer. However something went wrong just prior to the 14th and VZW could not meet the 14th. In the mean time BB starts to take pre-orders the week before and puts in their flyer. VZW says hey not so quick we can not meet that deadline. Well BB does this 2-3 weeks in a row, causing some people to get pissed. VZW could be very mad at BB for doing this (but laughing at the free marketing). We have no idea what/who pulls the trigger at BB. Obviously VZW is in the drivers seat or BB would be selling now.

Again, this is a VZW phone, not BEST BUY. This is VZW first LTE phone. It simply will not happen unless someone takes advantage of miscommunication.

I am feeling the 10th, if they do not say anything today, then the 3rd is gone IMHO. That being said the 17th is along with what BMX says.

Also I am getting the TBOLT and my boss is getting my INC. She is on a dumb phone. She just walked in and said "hey my contacts are all in Outlook" I am ready when you are. I started to cry, I keep telling her next week, next week. She is probably thinking WTF.

I hate to say you're wrong on this, but we take our word from Best Buy Corporate on when to sell/not sell things.

Products with street dates will always have them in the system so we don't sell them early. Not saying the TB won't have one, but as of last check it didn't.

If it's not communicated, they won't honor a release date on a phone.

And as for VZW selling it before Best Buy because of the release date issues so far, I highly doubt that. They are the exclusive national retailer for the phone, and Verizon makes just as much money if not more on a phone that's sold from BB as they do from their own stores, all that would serve to do is lessen the amount of money they can make because of the sheer number of stores they'd cut out of the loop.


In conclusion: Best Buy will have the phone at the same time as Verizon. If they sell it earlier/they will.

My Rep said the 3rd last Friday then changed to the 10th, so your guess is as good as mine. I've never had this much disinformation on a launch before, including the Inc.

Understood. I think what I was trying to get across is that BB corp gets a date from VZW, no one else. I am not implying BB at store level.

I know. She has been getting all her contacts in Outlook for the past few weeks. I was on her to get it done cause "the phone was dropping any day" and that was like 3 weeks ago. :(

Also it has taken me a year to convince her. It needs to happen NOW. :rolleyes:

Aww, probably thinks your messing with her. lol Hopefully it comes soon, then we can all put on our happy face and start talking apps, battery life and speed. :)
 
On the positive side, this lengthy delay has lead me to joining this forum and learning a TON about phones and Android.

I am now free from iOS and the technofacisim of the Fruit.

I'm also giving my boss my old phone, it will be her first smartphone and she can't wait, it's the OG Droid (I still love it)... of course by "my boss" I mean my wife... :D

BB had the OG Droid 1 or 2 days prior to most VZW stores. This had to do more with shipping and logistics rather than any exclusivity deal.

Right, they had the Droid 2 and sold it before the street date - hence why Verizon forced them to pull the Droid 2 and Droid Pro from their line of phones they sell in the BB store. They got in trouble for breaking street date. Let's hope that the Thunderbolt does not have a street date so they can sell it right when it finally arrives.

If VZW gets it first, buy it from them. Remember, your preorder at BB is just a gift certificate. You can spend that on anything you want, not just the TB. Worst case scenario : VZW screws BB by selling first. You buy from VZW and then use your BB gift cert to get accessories for your new gizmo.
