Best Buy Details

Damn! I understand that Verizon is calling the shots but how is that going to help me when I put down $50 on 2/9/11, then when the first BB ad ran on 2/13/11 I replaced my broken phone with a new one with the assurance from Best Buy staff that it is due in any day and that I could exchange it for a TB when it came in... now if it does not go on sale at Best Buy by 3/14/11 I am stuck. I guess I will take it to BB customer relations... wish me luck! Caveat Emptor!

archaic? in what sense? I was considering it as an alternative to the TB no show

Don't get me wrong - the iPhone 4 is a very very nice phone. The screen, gaming horsepower, ease of use (that is a big one - my 66 year old mother has an iPhone 4 and actually can use it lol). That's just it though - it's way too easy to use and simplified beyond belief.

I had the Droid X for a little over a month and LOVED it. It was really awesome - the widgets, battery life, music player, GPS, etc. It was just a great handset all around.

I had the iPhone 3Gs then the iPhone 4 on AT&T. Left AT&T for Sprint to try out the Evo (again), went to Verizon as soon as the iPhone 4 was announced, got the Droid X and kept it til the iPHone was out. Once i went back to the iPhone I was like "hmmm - ok this is not the phone for me anymore". I miss a lot about Android.

My main complaints about the Android platform, at least for the phones I've used, is the gaming power is nowhere near iOS (iOS rivals DS/PSP in many games). Also, I really miss having Netflix on my device. I didn't think I'd miss it, but the Blockbuster App on Android just isnt' the same. It works, but yeah.

If you have never had an iPhone before then you will be blown away by how elegant and simple the OS is - but if you are a power user at all, or like control over your home screens, etc. Android will be much more appealing to you.

On a side note, I called Best Buy just now to see if anything has been updated. "We have no updates at this time and do not expect the phone to be released for at least 2-4 weeks". That's fun >_>

Greetings from the San Francisco Bay Area. I followed the advice of an earlier poster (sorry, I don't remember from the hundreds of postings) and called the BB Consumer Relations people 1-888-BEST-BUY. Ask to speak to a manager, not the regular customer svc reps. (The cust svc reps can not do anything for you.)

The manager called me back. I asked about the differences in pricing and told him about the paper ad I saw in the Sunday papers for $249 and later for $299. He agreed with me that there was a $249 price for the 2 yr activation from a national ad came out 2/20 to 2/26. I told him I put my deposit down on 2/22.

He said even they changed their pricing to $299, the national ad was $249 during that time. So, he gave me the $249 price! This means that after I purchase the phone, he will either give me a $50.00 gift card or a check or a credit back on my credit card. (It has to go back on the same type of credit card if you do it that way. If you buy it on a gift card, keep the gift card and they will put $50.00 back on the card. Don't throw the card away.) I got a case number from him and he said he would write up the details in my case file.

He could not offer me the Back Back program for free, but overall, I'm real happy I can get it at the $249 price! Many thanks to the previous poster. Hope you guys can do the same.

And no, he did not have any date for release and did not know about the data pricing. I did not want to pay $299 b/c I thought the $249 was a stretch at first. Now with the $50 gift card and the post purchase $50 credit on my card, the phone will be $199 for all practical purposes. Things are looking up! :-)

It's crazy. I put my money down a month ago today and still no phone. I was going to pick up a Droid X and exchange it when the Thunderbolt came. Glad I didn't when I wanted to because I would SOL and stuck with a phone. I'd call and see if they can do something. It can't hurt.

If we cross into April, then we're approaching iPhone 5 release territory. The iPhone release drumbeat usually starts late April with phony "leaks" and "sightings". Then everything is going to get FUBAR'd. Thunderbolt release has to be either this Thursday or next... or Verizon has fully jumped on the iPhone bandwagon and is forgetting Android that has carried it for the past few years when Apple was exclusively in bed with AT&T.

I just spoke to my best buy mobile guy. He said they are not getting the TB for at least 2-4 more weeks until they sell more iPhone and iPad 2s

Not saying I am happy about it, just adding to the list of what people have heard.for better or worse

Yeah I know. I just think this release has nothing to do with the iPad 2. Maybe a little bit with the iPhone. There is no point to delay it just because the iPad 2 is coming out. The apple fanboys will buy it no matter what. The smart people wont.

I don't see how a Tablet affects a phone at all. People will say it will and give a dumb reason but in reality I don't see that mattering.

Also I feel like the Xoom is WAY better as far as specs. I guess there may be preference as far as OS but it just has way more to offer.

So as you guys know, the TB is in the best buy ad for the third week in a row, but this week is the first time we have issued NO correction for the ad...

Not saying anything, just noting

Did you ask manager about why? Or do they just expect the public to realize it is never coming out?

Jay is there anything new tonight? Any Thunderbolts in stock? New in-stock date or street date in the computers? Anything?
