Best Buy Details

Alright good deal. I am leaning towards going with a 1-year contract, so I may just end up going with Verizon again.
 
I was at Best Buy today and they confirmed it will be there on the 24th! I can pre-order for 50.00 and have my name put on one. They'll issue a gift card and the phone is mine when it comes in on the 24th. Since they wont have a live version to play with, I can still go to my local Verizon store and check it out before I commit. The Best Buy phone will be held for me until I pick it up and I'm not even obligated if for some reason I decide not to get it. Very convenient!!

It will be 249.00 at Best Buy or Verizon. Verizon always charges more for their phones because of the mail in rebate, more cash out of pocket up front. WalMart & Best Buy have always been cheaper than Verizon. I don't do mail in rebates, never will.

From my experience, voice to text is an Android OS feature not specific to any particular phone. Anything above 2.0 has great voice to text capabilities. So the newer your Android OS, the better the text to speech features.
 
Question for you, Jay. Will Best Buy honor the price match guarantee for this? If Verizon is selling at retail for 649 or something, and Best Buy is selling for 729 or whatever the retail is, can I mention it to the person and get it for Verizon's retail price?
 
I hope this phone either comes out on the 21st or 24th. I don't care which date as long it is released by next week. I guess I will stop by Verizon tomorrow to see what they have to say. I plan on getting the Thunderbolt for myself and the iPhone 4 for my wife on a family plan. Verizon will also give me a 18% government discount on my monthly phone bill. I can't wait to ditch AT&T.

How about you pay 50.00 cash and then use both gift cards plus more cash on the 24th. Use a gift card to buy a gift card is probably a stretch..

If BB was supposed to have special rights to the phone, is there a chance they could sell the pre-sales to people who put money down on the 21st or 22nd. Just speculation of course and I wouldn't hold you to it. Haha.

We get delivery on the 21st on a normal truck, so that's what I'm assuming we'll get. And yes, I'll let you guys know. PS: Hopefully I'll have the phone to brag about. lol
 
It's only as legit as the best buy RSS system. Last week the system said in stock date of 2-14-11, so who knows how trust worthy it is.

But last week we didn't have HTC saying they were shipping out to the stores ;), I think your info will be spot on. Droid Life liked it :D

Don't worry Jay-man, no one is holding you responsible if those dates don't pan out. At least that's what I'm going with until I hear back from my attorney. :)

In all seriousness, thanks for all your vigilance on this. (By the way, mine is in your employee locker come Monday, right??) ;)
