Ok, I have been reading you guys for a month. Thanks to Jay for all the info, and everyone else for the entertainment. Just jumping in cause I just read an article that some Best Buys are reporting the phone came in today.

HTC Thunderbolt: Is there a release conspiracy? - Charlotte Smartphones | Examiner.com

Still doesnt look good for a release tomorrow though. Maybe you guys have already seen this, if so, I apologize. I'm working so cant read every post that comes in.

Still, a good sign!

Interesting.

This whole process just sucks.

To go along with this, I just got back from my local BB in Towson, MD. Luckily Derrick was working. He has been the most curteous and knowledgable about the phone and this botched up release in the 15 times I've gone in the store on my lunch break to check the status.

I explained to him my fears over gettin screwed out of the free buy back program if the phone arrives post 26th.

He told me the last they heard from Verizon they were still expecting the 24th, he had heard rumors of a delay but NOTHING OFFICIAL. They are expecting an express drop tonite or early tomarrow of TBolts, he said if they did not get a drop tonite or tomarrow, which he did consider a possibility, he was expecting to hear some official word from Verizon telling them when to expect the phone.

Bottom line, he expected to get more info tonite-early tomarrow one way or the other.

Holding on to this as my hope! An express drop tonight would be amazing!

Charlotte-woot!
i called 3 bestBuy's on Sunday, in Charlotte, and none of them even knew about the TB--"you mean the iphone?", or that there was a rumored release for it (as every other BB apparently stated the 24th)

I'm in action mode today, so here's some quick info....

Fact: Completed a call with supervisor at BB corporate. No worries for me on the buy back issue. In other words, she assigned a case number to me...agreed that if the t-bolt release goes beyond the free buy back expiration that is not my problem...and she will see that there will be no charge for me for the buy back if this is the case. Others are free to make the same appeal and quite likely will be afforded the same courtesy. At the end of the day this is not really a primary concen for me, though, since, like many of you have indicated, it is quite possible I will shift to a Verizon store or Verizon online t-bolt purchase if their inventory shows up first.

Not much better than rumor: On the phone with Verizon wireless sales rep...(their 800 call center, but sepcifically consumer sales vs. customer service)...without missing a beat she said she will take my order for the t-bolt on Monday (Feb. 28). I really pressed her with lots of how do you know and why should I believe you responses. She just laughed and carefully spelled out, orders for xoom begin tomorrow, t-bolt on Monday, and then hinted strongly that this was very new discussion on her part. She made no promises beyond telling me she works 8 a.m Monday, I was first on her list for t-bolt, and she would call me at 7:45 for me to place my order. So, with all the redundancy of the "fwiw" disclaimer....I do find it plausible that xoom was put out there on Feb 24 and t-bolt was backed up to Feb. 28, which would give Verizon extra time they want for whatever reason, and allow them bragging rights that they complied with the "sooner than expected" claim by inching the release in before March. Also, I'm somewhat satisfied that I'm on some sort of actual semi-preorder list from Verizon! We'll just have to see on Monday if this ranks as monumental at all.

Just sharing.

Your story of a 28th launch sounds very plausible. I believe it. About Best Buy... that pisses me off. I specifically asked my local Best Buy if I could qualify for the free promo on the buy-back program with a pre-order, and she said no. Period. Told me that I had to take delivery, pre-ordering was not enough.

Thanks for posting this. My money is on the 28th after your post.

for a summary of the article:

The Case For Tomorrow
One of the HTCPedia Shop's accessory suppliers has been holding out on shipping Thunderbolt accessories, saying that they couldn't send them out until the day before the phone launched.

As you can probably guess, the accessories shipped today.

The Case AGAINST tomorrow:
(verizon) sounded pretty certain that it wouldn't be tomorrow. In fact, they think the phone might sit for a while longer, and surprisingly enough it might be the iPhone's fault.

Posted this in the main thread as well.

The HTC Thunderbolt might be coming tomorrow. It might also not be coming for a while. Confused? You should be. The HTC Thunderbolt might be coming tomorrow. It might also not be coming for a while. Confused? You should be.

You see, our source postulates that Verizon's iPhone sales have been less than stellar (this isn't a surprise, BGR reported this a few weeks ago). But, according to our source Verizon is worried that the Thunderbolt will further cannibalize iPhone sales, leaving Verizon stores with, if you can believe this, an inventory of unsold iPhones. So, (and again, this is just what our source is guessing), Big Red is actually holding the Thunderbolt until they move enough iPhones to be able to smile.

Now, that's funny right there. iScared.

Same here. I just called BB and was told that I would in fact NOT be eligible for the Buy Back program for free, as it ends on Sat. It's fine I guess as I am eligible for my upgrade at this time next year, but I hate knowing that someone screwed me out of something for free. LOL

I must say I am growing tired of waiting. At this point I would be REALLY happy for any CONFIRMED date from Verizon, weather its tomorrow, or March 31st. Anything concrete is what I need. . . . . . .

QFT. Literally any confirmed date would be good right about now.

But, according to our source Verizon is worried that the Thunderbolt will further cannibalize iPhone sales
notice the "further cannibalize iPhone sales"--meaning it's already suffered and is expected to do worse once this phone drops?
boom.

and nice use of 'cannibalize', ha.
"what goes nicely here---hurt? no. hinder? na...cannibalize? F YES!

I thought that was a stellar choice of words. LOL

Now black_man_x is rubbing it in about saying March all along. We shall see what Monday brings. The power of the people may win in the end. Now how much of a big pain in the A** can we be between now and Monday.

I dont even care if the phone isnt activated til next week, doesnt have skype, doesnt have hotspot, whatever! I want to hold it, and stare into it's screen, and play with Sense. Just give it to me!

and woot! Char-town is my home city. Was glad to see they're doing some research there.

When I went in today, my store assigned me the job of calling everyone who had pre-ordered the Thunderbolt to let them know that thought it was expected to be in stock tomorrow, misc. delays have caused the date to be pushed up. We were told to tell the customer that as of now the release date is up in the air but to expect another call towards the end of February/early March. I spoke to a lot of sad people today :(
