HTC Thunderbolt said to have terrible battery life, might explain delay? -- Engadget Think we found the delay. I've sent a tweet to black_man_x and Miami but I don't know if they will be able to repond. I started to ask this question a few days ago since people have wondered what the battery life is like but I forgot to ask. Well i'll let you know what they say.

I just saw that in your Twitter then i see it on Engadget and i'm like, hmm

Well hopefully these are fixed soon, but also atleast Verizon is trying to fix it before releasing it to the public

makes me wonder if this is what BMX meant the other day when he said "well another Bolt was sent to an early grave from typical use of a Patron"

So, I know this is similar to another HTC reply that was posted, but it is a variation on a theme. I sent an email asking them to give me something new and something hopeful on the t-bolt and this is what they wrote:

I would be more than happy to clarify this for you, Rocky.

Truth be told, the Thunderbolt was a phone that was customized for Verizon, by Verizon. Every aspect of this phone (including launch date) is completely up to them. Unfortunately, Verizon has not confirmed any launch dates for the Thunderbolt, so we're not able to really comment on when it's going to be available. We've heard rumors about tentative release dates, but nothing's really been set in stone.

Once we know more about the release dates, we'll definately announce it through Facebook (HTC | Facebook) and Twitter HTC (htc) on Twitter), and of course HTC.com. Verizon also has a mailing list for news about the Thunderbolt; Verizon Wireless

Thank you for taking the time to contact us, Rocky.

Sincerely,

Megon

HTC

At least their response seems to be absent the Verizon attitude of "we'll be as secretive as we want to be and you guys will learn to like it." And, you'll notice, this time they don't imply approval of Verizon's efforts and even classify the situation as "unfortunate." Overall, it seems to be the equivalent of hey, don't blame us. Or am I over-interpreting....?

Oh well, at least there also seems to be an attempt at honesty from poor Kim, so maybe we should cut her some slack tonight? :)

Engadget Update on the battery post:

Update:
We've just heard from another trusted tipster that there's definitely a new firmware in the works to address battery life and signal issues (which -- you guessed it -- are interrelated). Thanks, HTC Kid!

I went to htc mobile site and I couldnt find where the tb is listed on there.

Not long after it was posted on Phandroid, the hidden "glitch" was fixed, which is why if you look at the bottom of the article they show you a screenshot.

even if there are battery issue. Just release the damn phone and push it over OTA. I dont think they will open up all the phones again and update the firmware on every single one of them. This is pretty bad publicity of HTC. I think every day that passes HTC looses ground to the upcoming phones. Lets say droid bionic launches late march or early april then HTC will not be selling as many handsets as they would have sold if they launched this device in mid FEB.

BMX says the Bolt is ready for roll out.. almost. Sounds like we shouuld be able to make end of the week still. Hope that firmware fixes it.

I tried going through the ordering process which then gave me an option to add a calling plan, and I was hoping I'd get to see a data plan, but no dice.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qzx_xrRLobw this guy got his hands on it yesterday. look at the date on the phone

Nice Find, AND he accidentally pulls the notification bar down and it moves to landscape, in the wirefly and hands on videos with other sites, it would NOT do that :) THIS could be that Landscape is also finally working for the home screen. :D

This was probably at the training event, you do hear other people in the background and what looks like a Verizon info card on the left (just barely can see it on the edge of the screen

anywho, with all the info were getting today, maybe next week (March 3-4th is likely) especially since a battery fix firmware is on the way, they'll probably push it out when each phone is activated to cut down on delaying it further...

one can hope anyway... :(

I can still see it.. Look at the time on my clock
