Best Buy Details

I dont think it should interfere. Two different markets here...phone and tablet.

You're right, technically 2 different markets, but I believe the general concensus was that the TB wouldn't launch the same day as the Xoom?
Just found it intersting that's all.

I would assume BB would get them (ip2) around the same time as launch since they carry normal Apple stuff as well, but what do I know.

Well, if the TB is released on the 10th then they should be sold out by the time the 11th rolls out. Also, I am seeing that the ipad2 is shipping on the 11th. Does that mean that they will actually be in the stores for all of the Steve Jobs worshippers to pick up?

Impossible they will release it same day. VZW hires Apple salespeople at the launch (at my local vzw store anyway) to pounce on anyone walking near the place. There would be a war if they were released together.

I had some inclination that when VZ finally made some sort an official comment about the TB, it would be about a new tier pricing plan. I found it too good to be true that they'd be rolling out 4G without some adjustment to rates. I'm pretty sure that the reasons for it's delay, although maybe slightly due to technical issues, is more than more than likely due to the corp suits trying to iron out the details of how they're going to guinea pig, rrr, monitor TB owners so they can properly rate their tiered plans when they roll it out.

In the meantime, I have given up on VZ for now and went to Sprint, got myself an Evo and my wife an Evo Shift. The Evo, fills a great deal of the craving that I hope would have been filled by purchasing the TB. I know, I know, hardware-wise it is a little outdated. However, it's still a great phone and it has a ton, I repeat, a ton of development for it. Also, Sprint went ahead and credited me $250 immediately for porting both numbers over from T-mobile. Not to mention Sprint provides 4G in my area whereas VZ does not, and its unlimited with only $10 extra per month for the 4G.

That being said, I've still got my $50 prebuy for TB. If and when TB drops, if before 30 day trial period w/ Sprint expires, I will consider getting TB and a DroidX or Dinc for my wife. But I'm not holding my breath...

Sprint may claim 4G, but doesn't truly have it. It sounds like you got a great deal for now, and no real downside if the TB launches soon.

Agree. I think they are worried about the tiered pricing.

Scenario, I buy a TB and re-up my 2 year contract that has unlimited data/ text...etc.

3 months from now they implement their tiered pricing and do not grandfather me in with unlimited. They have in essence changed my contract which will give me the option of canceling my contract without having to pay an ETF.

Now I have a $700 + phone that I got for $199 and I sell that bad boy for $650 - $700 on ebay and go on my merry way.

Exactly, win win

Well said!

Although I have a feeling Verizon is going to offer unlimited plan with TBolt for short period of time. This is where they are going to see and track the usage pattern. Then they will use that information to tire 4G plans. Which means we hold the future tired plans! :D

If we all use a lot then 4G tired plans will be adjusted:)

Hi Jay, and thanks for starting and keeping up with this thread. I know that Wimax is not exactly true 4G, but its faster than 3G and since VZ doesn't have 4G in my area, and probably won't until 2013, it's the best I can get. Again, I have been anxiously, almost fanatically, waiting for TB to drop, and I'd still love to get my hands on it. It's just becoming less and less enticing as this drags on and on. I'm really more anxious to start flashing roms again... CM7 is fantastic, tried it out on MT4G.

Well if you're stuck, then hey, why not stay with the Evo until you get true 4G in your area?

I only wish Sprint had a newer version of Evo To be honest, I love the Evo but I want the Evo with a 2nd gen snapdragon and the extra internal memory, RAM, etc. That's the TB... grrr
