Best case for note 2?

Eventually I may get bored and root it but I don't see the need currently other than to get the cool blue icons in the status bar and to have whatever app I want on multiwindow.

On another note, I just picked up the Body Glove TPU case from Sprint. I really like how slim it keeps the phone and the texture on the back provides some grip as well. Good case for $25. It is much better than the cruzerlite cases.

The body glove case is nice. I just wish that case was available in another color.

$25 isn't too bad when you look at the prices of stuff like Otterbox, or the cases AT&T marks up to $38.

Yeah I would have liked it in white but at the same time the black one actually looks good on the white phone and the black won't get dirty like my white Cruzerlite did.
 
I've always used seidio or ottorbox but while I was at Verizon I both a black kickstand case and I love it very slim but adds decent protection the kick stand works in landscape and portrait and also doubles as a great grip for reading laying down so I don't drop my phone on my fave lol
I just pull the stand out and stick a finger in there
 
I used to buy OtterBox Commuter other bulky cases. Now it very slim cases like Incipio feather or Nillkin, I love that they also include free (great) screen protectors. Apple, hTc work hard designing these Super Phones so why hide them.

I now buy it for basically grip.
 
I wonder if the Note 2 is tough enough to carry without a cover at all? I believe the phone comes with Gorilla Glass which is scratch proof isn't it? I use my Note2 also as a camera and the flip cover I am using now always gets in the way especially if I am taking photos in landscape. I usually carry the phone by hand or in my shirt pocket or my suitcase without risk of exposing to sharp objects.
 
I am an overprotective N2 owner. I dont let my phone come in contact with anything but softness. Aside from the screen, I don't want the chrome ring scratched. I was using one of the wallet style flip covers that only protect a portion of the chrome ring and keeping it in a separate pocket of my purse. In spite of my best efforts, there are small scratches on the chrome ring. I now use the original flip cover with a modified rubber bumper on the back so the whole thing is protected.

No, Gorilla Glass is NOT scratch proof. It can scratch very easily actually. I always recommend to anyone that they get at least a screen protector, for any phone. The way i see it is... why not spend $16 and protect your screen before you have to pay $100+ to replace your screen.

theres also the incipio LGND. that one protects the sides of the phone and it looks pretty good, imo

You want overprotecton, Otterbox Defender. Nothing comes close to that case. Not bulky at all, takes like 2-3 days and its feels totally right sized.
 
From what I've seen the Defender adds a massive amount of bulk. Some people may prefer that but some people wouldn't, and saying its not bulky is a little misleading. It may not be bulky to some but to most it is, especially for an already large phone. It adds close to half an inch to the thickness of the phone.

I actually carry my Note1 ( still in use when I travel overseas ) like that without a case or protective cover. It is always either in my shirt or jacket pocket or in my suitcase ( own slot ). Seems to be OK so far.. Cases for tablets is fine, but for phones feels really cumbersome esp when answering a call for me at least.

Is there anyone that carry their Note2 without a case?
 
I received my Otterbox commuter yesterday and I love it. Yes, it does add a little bulk but I love the way it looks and the fact that it is raised above the screen so if I put my phone face down it doesn't effect the screen. Also I was having issues with my phone restarting in my handbag as the power button was easily pressed but with the case on it is harder to press so hasn't happened. :D
 
With so much love for Otterbox, don't you all miss having a kickstand? The rugged hybrid hard case I got from eBay (which I look at as $6.99 knock off of Seidio Active case, with an exception of a regular plastic kickstand in the middle) comes with a kickstand and I can't imagine now using GN2 without it. Also comes very handy as a grip when kicksand is open. Not sure if Otterbox holster can be used as a kickstand when clip is locked. Why wouldn't Otterbox has some kind of a kickstand as part of their main case design?

Because a lot of people, myself included, think kickstands are dumb. I don't really see the use of one. I personally prefer not to have a kickstand built into my cases. I think it makes the cases look horrible. The case mate pop is the only case I have even considered that has a kickstand. Often times the kick stands break and that causes problems for manufacturers when they have to constantly replace cases because of a kickstand.

Oh, I see. The kickstand is "dumb", you "don't see use of one", you "prefer not to have" it, and it makes "cases look horrible". Sounds like a valid reasoning :p
 
I thought calling it dumb was a little excessive, each to their own I say. Personally I wouldn't use a kickstand as I use mine in portrait in my hand or flat on my desk. I hardly ever use landscape mode unless I'm reading something from the Internet. I have a tablet for portrait needing things which is in a lovely case with a stand.

I catch myself more and more using my GN2 to actually watch TV/movies; kind of switched from tablet to phablet for that. It's funny how my phone size/screen preference expanded while tv screen watching preference shrunk up. Plus, since I'm not a big fan of those flygrip type of attachments, I actually find kickstand to be useful while holding note2 in bed, or wrapping OTG cable with usb stick around it to watch a movie :)

It's completely valid reasoning. I'm sorry it wasn't what you wanted to read but the truth of it all is that not many people say "Man, I really wish this case had a kickstand so I can watch videos on this 5.5" screen". Yes I realize it is a bigger screen than on most phones, but most people consume videos and such while actually holding the phone and not setting it down on a table somewhere. In a lot of people's eyes the kickstand is just ugly and takes away from the clean look the case otherwise would have had. Let's take Seidios line of cases for the Note 2 for example, you have the case all one color with a nice look and then BAM big metal kickstand sticking out like a sore thumb. 9 out of 10 people I have talked to say they don't like, and/or have no desire for, a case with a kickstand. That is why a lot of manufacturers don't even bother with a kickstand on their cases, and of course the reason mentioned above in my other post, the kick stands break very easily causing problems for manufacturers and also costing them money by having to send out replacements.

I'm sorry if any of my posts offend you. It is just my opinion and what I have found the preference to be when it comes to cases with kick stands. I am not at all trying to insult those who like kickstands on cases. Some people like them and some hate them, but nobody is wrong because in the end it comes down to what YOU prefer.

I work with someone with the defender and it is huge. The Commuter is smaller but has no holster. What was Otterbox thinking.

I do agree, if kickstand sticking out too much - it takes away from the shape of the case. I do like how its discrete on my cheapo eBay case (http://androidforums.com/5333428-post190.html) and blends in with a design. But it also works against it when I place my case on the back and loose a friction/grip with a surface due to an uneven back side of the case. Worries me sometimes that I can swipe it off the table (but than, case is rugged ;)). I'm waiting for another cheapo knock off case soon to be released (just talked to the company off line) where they are copying Otterbox design with plastic case on the inside and rubber case on the outside. It supposed to have recessed kick stand as well, although I'm not sure about it until they have it available toward the end of the month. Will post pics once I get it.

Oh, btw I'm don't like Seidio kickstand approach either. If you do have kickstand, have it in the middle of the case to balance the phone. Otherwise, while you have it standing up with a kickstand, you will not be able to touch the screen without knocking the phone down.
