Best Case For Optimus V

I've been through a half a dozen or so just like you guys. Anyways, I'm in the construction trade and I need not only a rugged case but one that doesn't fall off. If you go to Home Depot and in there tools section, you can get an awesome case for $7 dollars, it has a clip and a belt loop along with a little flashlight as a bonus. Well, I hope someone. finds this useful.:ciao: Bye

Would be useful if you offer a link to the case from the Home Depot online store. ;)

He's probably talking about this one at Home Depot.

It's the only one they sell that matches his description.

Greetings!

This is only my second post to AF (I just joined today).

Primary Question: Does anyone know from experience if the OtterBox case for the LG Optimus V is compatible with the holster for the LS700 (LG Optimus Slider), like the one here from DeCoRo/VoiceComm.

I already bought the holster off Amazon, thinking that one of the entries in this thread had confirmed they were compatible. I re-read the thread again and found that one member, DBNissan, mentioned he had the OtterBox case on his Optimus and uses the "swivel holster/belt clip made for the Samsung M900," (here) although he had to trim it a bit for optimum fit.

Some background: I like nice solid plastic belt-clip holsters like the ones that were supplied with the old Nextel i1000 iDEN phones. That was my first real cell-phone, although it was provided for work, and the clip never broke on me no matter how much I (unintentionally) abused it. This is what I compare most holsters to now.

I recently purchased the Sprint holster/belt-clip for my phone, and it fits nicely, but only with the naked phone. I like this holster, and it seems sturdier than the one I initially purchased with my phone (from my local mall kiosk, around the corner from the Best Buy phone store).

The shell I already have is like this one here, and the first holster I bought is like this one

here. I don't know the manufacturer, but when my first one broke I was able to find it on eBay and purchased two so I would have a replacement if it broke. It seemed sturdy enough at first, but frankly the retention clip on top has a weakness: The spring-clip is nice, but the narrow bit of plastic holding the retention clip to the main body is thin, and breaks easily. The spring makes it possible to exert too much force and snap it off. In contrast, the Sprint belt-clip holster retention clip seems more sturdy because it is all plastic so it's less easy to break it unintentionally (so far, anyway).

I really like the belt-clip piece of the DeCoRo holster since it has a hook at the bottom for snagging on my belt. My main belt is a 5.11 brand leather belt with a polymer stiffener sandwiched between the two leather pieces. This belt is less compatible with the Sprint holster mentioned above: It makes the body of the holster (with the phone) angle out and away from my hip, making the whole assembly less secure. The Sprint holster is, however, very compatible with my hiking pants and a thin web belt.

Side Note: Has anyone successfully used the Sprint holster with any form of TPU or silicone skin on their phone?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can offer!

A great case I've been using since I got the Optimus V last February has been a fishbone kind. It has the silicone grip to it but also covers the edges with hard plastic in case ya drop it. It is definitely worth it. Usually can spot it on eBay under $10. LG Optimus V fishbone case on eBay.

The only downside, for me anyways, is that it doesn't have cover plugs for the headphone jack or mini USB. I ordered some plugs for $1, only to lose them a week later.
