Help Best Choices for Playing Movies on FT3?

I want to convert some DVD movies to AVI files and play them on my FT3. I'd like to have the AVI files on USB Flash Drives and plug them into one of the FT3's USB ports.

1. Is what I want to do feasible? If so, any caveats?

2. Any recommendations for "best" DVD to AVI ripper?

3. Any recommendations for "best" AVI player for FT3?

4. How does the Flash drive need to to be formatted? FAT32?

A1/ Yes..perfectly possible...no caveats

A2/ Any one you like... I use AVS video converter 6 but there are many others

A3/ The default one works fine for me (ccplayer wont do HDMI)

A4/ FAT32 has a file limit size of 4GB but that would be a huge film... most of the ones I use are ~700MB. Even HD .AVI's are only 1.4GBish Tims5a does recognise NTFS if you need it.

Expect the trans-coding (dvd to avi) to take hours..........unless you have a cray!

Seymour Cray was a friend of mine. I once asked him to lend me a system, but he declined.:)
 
I will test it later and let you know. Gonna load an FHD movie on it and see. I use the pad only for portable media playing so haven't tested it.
 
CCPlayer and MoboPlayer will not fast forward for me when I play my media files. Also, some files won't play for me at all if I have them stored on the microSD card - but when I put those same movies on a USB thumbdrive and stick it in a slot, they play. People have told me that the microSD card that came with my tablet is shyte. Maybe that's the problem...
 
Right now I don't think there is a perfect player. CCplayer occasionally won't play audio or in the case of an MP4 of Legion it picks up the soundtrack but no of the voices or sound effects. But between CCplayer and the Gallery player they cover all the bases.

You could try Any Video Converter. Not much of a resource hog, simple batch conversion just set them and let it run. Pretty fast and the biggest thing of all it multitasks well. I have tried a lot of converters that you will get odd hiccups or graphics anomalies in the video if you are using your pc at all while converting. another nice feature is setting the batch with each film having it's own settings. I can convert movies for my pad and my 3" MP4 player at the same time. It's free.
