Best Deal

Okay, being a cheepskate (obviously VM) I'd like to know who has the best deal on the Evo V? I was going to order thru Radio Shack but they have disabled the SAVE20 coupon code.

Ebay or crigslist then, it will probably be a month or 2 or even more before sales start happening

If you use a site called ebates.com, you cam get $22.50 back in your Paypal or by check if you order through Virgin Mobile. You just have to make sure you make an account and then search Virgin Mobile and click Shop Now to be directed to their site to order it. You must go to Virgin Mobile's site through Ebates otherwise you will not get back any money.

I am probably a bigger one. :D

I actually use Excel to make comparison. Here are what I found.
Ebates, Upromise, fatwallet all offer some sort of cashback. Sign up to one of those. I know fatwallet offers $22.50 cash back. However, you won't see the $22.50 for 2 months.

Method 1:
Now with Radio Shack, you may have a change to get real great deal. First, visit sites like plasticjungle gift card sites where you can get RS gift cards at 10% off or via ebay/cl. If you get $300 worth, your saving is at least $30. RS cashback via Fatwallet is usually 3%. Sometimes the cash back can be up to 6%. Now if you are really lucky, you might find cheaper RS gift card on CL. Just make sure it's not a scam.

Method 2:
I haven't tried this, it's based on info I've gathered. Order directly from VMUSA, yoru cash back is $22.50 via fatwallet. To avoid paying tax, visit sites like callingmart where you still get 1% discount on top ups. Apply top up credits and purchase the phone with it. Tax should not be applied (not 100% about this). Now if you have bought callingmart top up at 5% like I did, you'd save $15, and with Fatwallet cashback at $22.50, net is $262.49.

I actually haven't purchased the phone. I will wait until about 2nd-3rd week of July. Back to school sale usually means discount on phones. I am going to wait til then. Also, between now and then, events/holidays such as graduation, father's day and 4th of july, increase the possibilities of more discount from RS, Target.

If you are a regular customer of Best Buy and get their coupons on a regular basis, they should be having another weekend sale in 1 or 2 weeks.

Their coupons are normally 10% off and do include no-contract phones.

Using one of their coupons would get you a price of $269.99 plus tax.

Is there a way to sign up for their coupons?

:D

Tried RMN20 for RadioShack. Not working!

I am going to wait for BB Deals. With i-Phone release on VM USA, HTC EVO V sales will go down. Thats when BB and RS will start offering deals on HTC EVO V!

Plus, release on Target and Walmart will put pressure on BestBuy and RadioShack to post sales again.

:D

Finally made the purchase. Here's how to save a few extra bucks. Definitely buy top ups via callingmart. Don't buy it all at once, but spread out to 2 purchases with second purchase for about $10. Callingmart still offers 1% off AND still offers points (equivalent of 1%). If you make two purchases with first one being $290, you get about $2.90 worth of points toward your next $10 purchase. I spent about $294 on $300 worth of top up. BTW, there's a limit of $150 /day for top up at VM. So you'll need to spread the top up over 2 days or ask a rep. After you top up, visit fatwallet and/or ebates, upromise. I use Fatwallet. Click through Fatwallet then purchase the phone with the top up (select cash balance in payment drop down). TAX WILL NOT be charged. So for a New Yorker City resident like me instead of paying about $26 in tax, I saved. I received an email from fatwallet on the $22.50 cash back about 10 minutes after the order. Net cost to me is about $271.50. You won't be able to get fatwallet cash for about 2 months. For me, the net saving is about $55 ($271 vs about $326).
