Best DUAL SIM android phone?

i'm following a chinese forum they share new roms usually.
but without google apps and market.
btw the chinese last one is 4.36d and "european" one is 4.37c
i hope someone find 4.37d...

Then your recovery is not working/not installed

Here I've uploaded the recovery and the etotalk.apk needed to install it

Download u960 recovery.7z

to root the phone (if is still unrooteed) I used

DooMLoRD_v1_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su

Just google for it, it works with just one click and one phone reboot.

P.S. the zip file name is u780 and not u960 (my bad, I'm in hurry)

Hi!
I'm running into trouble getting my ZTE-T U960 rooted. It has original Build 1.0.2B03 Kernel 2.6.35.7-perf+ and Baseband T on SIM1 and W on SIM2.
I tried already the whole day to get root as I'm missing market...tried Gingerbreak 1.2, Doomlord v1 and 4, Superoneclick (works until #7) etc.
Anybody an idea?

Forget my previous post. I've made it to get it rooted.

Now i have touble to get into recovery mode. When i hold power and Volume+ button during start it shows (Original?) G3-logo and then nothing happens. Even if i continue to hold both buttons it starts(vibrate)-shows logo-black screen?-starts(vibrate)-shows logo...

Anyone an idea how to get into recovery?

There is a U960 specific topic in this forum. Please ask U960 specific questions there.

Thank You,

I installed last ROM, rooted my phone, I guess it more smooth to use now, good job! I am anyway struggling with free memory for my apps, I deleted apps I found in new xt532 forum. I struggled a bit with italian language but everything is OK and big effort was and still is done, god bless google translator :-)).

What do You think about Link2sd as available in XDA forum - is it worth exploring :)? I would like to have at least 30 MBs still available for new APPS. Still struggling with 10-15 MB available even after uninstalling some unnecessary progs.

In TitaniumBackup (paid version) I have problem with moving apps from inner memory to system memory.

In Antutu benchmark I got half points in comparison to ZTE 1,5Gh (one and half, WTF :)))! So it is very promising for near future. But have to say that XT532 is best dual sim I have had in my hands so far (FET T8888 and Gigabyte Gsmart).

Have a nice day all!

Probably the best workaround for phones poor in storage sppace

There's a reason because the sellers of poor Chinese clones are used to post benchmark made with Antutu and not Quadrant or other widely accepted benchmark apps

I checked with my Motorola ROM contact: he confirmed only the Chinese version is available in version D.
4.37D (Taiwanese version) is not there yet.

Thank you so much, it is very powerful, you do the annoying work with your SD card just once - then it is only fun, I have got still around 50 MB with all apps installed. Now its all fine for me. :)

Guys I have been using a Lenovo A60 phone for past many months and now unfortunately i lost the battery and back cover. Do you know where i can get them ?

Thanks Crake! they are quoting $50 for battery and cover. I found compatible battery at obostore.com but i am not sure they capacity is what they say! With the chinese, you will always have concerns about authenticity about their claims. LOL

I ordered a 1700 mha battery for my U960 from obostore.com. They send a battery that did not (at all) fit the phone. Send them a mail about the problem, and the want me to send it back to china with registered airmail for a refund... It is a $10 battery, so I am not going to do that - and I guess that it is what they are counting on... But not wary god service in my opinion.

just got t328w delivered to my door, took longer than usual as it was stuck at custom for over a week.

anyway, just did the unboxing and the overall impression is very good.

I got the white version.the build quality is good and the case have a classy feels to it. The screen is very nicely built into the case. So overall very pleased with the presentation of the phone, very HTC!

The screen resolution is surprisingly good and clear, I cant really tell that much difference between this and my Galaxy Nexus. There is a good feedback/vibration when typing on the screen keyboard. The phone has ICS and Sense 4.0, and feels smooth overall and very well integrated. It also feels like it has a somewhat stripped down and basics version of ICS. As suspected, there is no Google Sync, Gmail or Google Play.

side by side, it definitely feels and looks like a much more expensive phone compared with Motorola XT532.

I will come back with a more detailed review once I spend a bit of time with this new toy.

Overall I m happy about this phone for now.

please please please think twice before getting an htc t328w

It has pretty good specs (1GHZ single core CPU, adreno 200 GPU, android 4.0.3, sense 4), and a VERY nice and sexy design with good chasis build quality...

HOWEVER

It IS A CHINESE PHONE

SOFTWARE PROBLEMS
-DOES NOT COME WITH GOOGLE APPS
-The Official ANDROID MARKET WILL NOT WORK (it's not even in the phone, and market apk's don't work, just a force close)
-There is NO ROOT available as of now
-Comes with a PLETHORA of unremovable bloatware (because it can't be rooted yet)

Physical Problems
-The screen is VERY bad (great colors and sharpness, very clear BUT is easily one of the most fragile LCD screens I've ever used, I've had it for 3 weeks and it's already covered with scratches after treating it with great care)
-Camera is horrible, it's a 5MP that feels like a 3MP grainy crap tool, pictures usually come out pixelated (compared to other smartphone camera's) and overly grainy and video isn't even HD

Also, being a chinese phones, there is very little support, and almost no english support at all...

It's not bad for a dual sim phone, and probably the safest and best for an android dual sim, but well, :S

If anyone has any questions please free to pm me

Hello all,

So I got the ZP200 and so far rather impressed. Once I have it set up to my taste, I'll make a longer post about my thoughts.

However, I have encountered one issue that I can't seem to get my head around.

Both the magnetic compass and gyroscope do not seem to work. Has anyone had issues like this on other Android devices? I've sent an email to etotalk (who so far have been excellent with their customer service), but not received a reply just yet.

I can't find somewhere to calibrate these. I've downloaded an app called AndroSensor - to which magnetic field, orientation and gyroscope are saying "waiting for event". I've also tried what appears to be a soft factory reset which doesn't help either.

Lastly, anyone know how to perform a hard factory reset on these? I can't seem to find anything online!

Cheers!

Strongly disagree.

The phone is custom made for Chinese market, but that alone doesnt make it a bad phone.

Bootloader unlock: The phone bootloader can be unlocked by from the official HTCDev. Afterall, it is a genuine HTC, and very easy to unlock (and lock) bootloader.

Root: The root has already been available since early May, it is literally one software, a click of button 3 reboot and job done. Very Straightforward.

Google Apps: extremely easy to add, took me 5mins to do it, Gmail, Google Play, Youtube..the whole package. The only thing you can't do on this phone is add a Google Account under Account & Sync, but it doesnt hinder any of the google apps functions.

Bloatware: there are quite a few as it is afterall a custom made phone for China Unicom. However, it's very easy to remove since the root is already available, so not a problem at all.

Dev support: The Dev support at the moment is mainly from the domestic Devs. I have raised the phone in russian andriod forum that did the Lenovo A60 Rom and some interest are building up. The t328w is a very straightforward easily rooted/developed phone! The only shortcoming at this stage as far as dev support is concerned is the lack of 3rd party Recovery for this particular model. Bear in mind the t328d already has a Custom Recovery, so really, just a matter of time.

Screen: I dont have any more problem as far as scratch is concerned, compared with my iPhone, Galaxy Nexus, or Moto532XT, and this phone cost far less than any of those.

Camera: agree that camera is not that good, and lack of front facing camera like the XT532. Frankly speaking, i dont really use camera on phone so this is not a problem for me.

What I do have problem with:
1) i seem to have issue with receiving SMS on line 2. It could well be my sim as my line 2 is a roaming sim. I ll report further when i have the chance to test it more thouroughly.

2) when i first insert the sims, it took the phone several reboot to recognized both sim cards. not sure why as I cant seem to be able to replicate the problem.

2) when one line is in used (text, call etc), the other line is disabled for that short moment. I think this is the same with most dual sim phone (such as Moto 532), but the signal on 2nd line of the HTC drop straight to zero when 1st line is in used.

In summary:
This is not a bad phone at all. and there is definitely root! and most problems can be resolved easily.

Hope this helps.

Totally agree with kingcedz.
Got my phone a few days ago.
Posted this on XDA, so posting it here too:

To root the T328W you need the HTC One V Root, but not the one found on XDA. There is another root method found on some Chinese site. Actually there are more than just one method to root the One V, one of them almost bricked my 1 day old device.

This is the one that worked for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...1&d=1337622914

Of course you should unlock your bootloader before applying the root.

As for google apps, you need to download the Cyanogen gapps pack:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Lat...on/Google_Apps
Download the latest Cyanogen 9, copy the files in /system/app to your device's /system/app/
And Change permission of the copied files.
Then make a full reboot ( Disable quick reboot or remove battery) and you should see Android Updating screen.
The google account does not appear in the Accounts and Sync in settings, but if you make a full sync the google account is synced in the process.

Next we need someone to make a recovery image for the T328W, and to solve the google account not appearing the Accounts and Sync.

Update: I contacted the developer of the One V Recovery Image (vivekkalady) and sent him the boot.img and he's looking into making a Recovery Rom for the T328W. I tried to add the 1% battery step mod for the T328W but with no luck so I contacted A recognized themer who is willing to help me make the mod but he's away and coming back by the weekend. Gotta love the Android community.

Hi guys,

Sorry, I am totally new to Android as I am an iPhone user. I am interested in a dual sim chinese android phone (Lenovo A750 looks pretty interesting) as I live between Britain and Italy, which makes it more convenient to use a single phone rather than two different ones.

However, don't know about operating system/firmware updates. With an iPhone, everything runs smoothly through iTunes, but what about updating a modified chinese Android phone ? Are firmware and operating system updates different ? Thanks !

Strongly disagree.

Hmm, I can agree with you on the root and stuff, my bad, I'm sorry, I hadn't really checked support and such for this phone since late april, so I was unaware

But thank you for pointing out my mistakes, I will root this phone and post an update today.

Again, thank you! :)

If you paid with paypal, ask for a refund thru paypal. I think it is only safe bet with chinese.

u r welcome.

The t328w is really a rather nice phone. I find it hard to go back to Moto XT532 after using the t328w for a few days. The Sense 4.0 runs very smoothly over ICS on this little thing. The phone is marketed as "Desire V", but really, the t328w is clearly a dual-sim variation of the HTC One series.

This is the first attempt from HTC at a Dual Sim Andriod device, and I think it's quite well done (especially for this price range). Who knows, maybe we ll see an international version of this phone or even better, a version based of One X.
