Root Best / Easiest root method for ICS leak?

Thanks. Do I download it to my SD card then run it. There were no directions

1. download to your Windows Computer
2. make sure you have USB debugging enabled
3. make sure you choose media device (MTP)
4. Extract the zip file to its own folder where ever you may choose (I did it to the desktop)
5. open the folder and click run. Your phone will reboot two or three times and you will be rooted!
6. Enjoy:)

Just did this on the 230 leak. Razrs Edge worked, but motofail failed(even though they appear to be the same).

motofail won't work on ICS but they do work in the same way, in as far as that they are both scripts that root your phone and installs SU.
They just use different methods to achieve root.

yep for debugging

How would I know if I have the latest drivers? I'm sure 4.0.4 has newer drivers.

what you can do is change how the phone is connected under usb computer connection and let the drivers install for each one before going to the next. start with mass storage, then MTP and then PTP. When they are done installing reboot your computer and try rooting again.

Ok, I updated the drivers but it still does nothing. just hangs at

it see your device else daemon would not have started. I would download the root method again. I think you got a bad download.

While that is sitting there 'hanging':

1) Make sure *again* phone debugging is enabled
2) Wait for the pop-ups in Windows that your three drives ahve connected - 1 CD ROm and 2 storage (internal + SDCard)
3) If nothing still happens, open a CMD windows, go to the same directory where you have th files extracted from Razr's edge, and type in the following:

Code:
adb devices
and report what it says for devices.

Sometimes rebooting your computer will also help fix this issue.

Other things to check:

1) Try using a different USB port on your computer
2) Verify the cable you're using is good (that it will at the very least charge your phone)

I can get adb daemon to start without having a device connected....

It shows the exact same prompt if you do not have a device connected:

ADB no device.JPG

ROTF - actually, only reason I knew this was I was trying to root .230 last week an I had that problem too - and then realized my phone was not plugged in b/c I had performed a battery pull to force it to reboot lol

FWIW - I cannot use RAZR's Edge directly* to root either .230 or .232 on my phone.

What happens is that it gets started and then after the second reboot the adb included with the package starts throwing multiple devices found errors left and right.

What I had to do was use the adb from the .r20 SDK for all the steps up until pushing su onto the phone - then I let the Razr's edge batch file complete itself.

I'm rewriting the batch file to use my local adb always - hopefully that will help speed things along. Will let you know more as I find out.

I'm really not sure if this is because I updated to .r20 of the SDK, or if .230+ doesn't like interfacing with older adb engines....or something else.

Another user in the Hive reported that his FW was interfering with the process - check your firewall as well.

I don't know what the deal was so I reverted to .902 to be able to go to .232 and all is well now.

Thanks

Do, Anyone know the steps to unroot the phone in the event I need to take it back to Verizon. The phone function of the phone isn't working after trying to install CM10 ROMs. I was bummed it didn't work.
