Best games for EVO?

The site isn't only games it has hundreds of paid apps...also the gameloft games are 5 bucks each but i'm sure if you look hard enough you can find anything for free. It's pretty convinient though if you dont feel like spending the time..

That site rips off developers in the worst way. Not only do they rip off games and distribute them illegally but they make a profit from it as well. It's bad enough when someone shares a program or a game with people at no charge but when you start profiting from your sketchy behavior it really destroys any argument you might have made (providing people trial use, fair use, etc).

I won't claim total innocence when it comes to downloading a TV show or maybe a program I want to test out before I buy but I would not feel very good about paying some shady character money in order for him to sell me ripped off software.

Just my 2c.

The reason iPhone has better games than the Android is because it's SO much easier to pirate games on the Android, so game developers don't really want to put as much time into a game that'll easily get pirated.

Seriously? I traded my old Touch Pro to a dude off craigslist for an iPod Touch and that thing was loaded with pirated games and apps. He even showed me how to do it if I had wanted to. It was a simple one-click jailbreak and a couple of quick app installs to allow installation from pirated package files that are all over the net.

iPhone gets better games because until recently it had by far the largest install base of any single mobile platform with decent graphics hardware, not to mention very small hardware set which makes development easier and a simple way to monetize your creations.

To get the games on Gamelofts website you have to select your carrier as Verizon and Choose the Motorola Droid as your phone. After doing so it will provide you a download link for the games. I personally have Gangstar (think GTA), N.O.V.A. (think Halo) and Dungeon Hunter (...think Diablo?). I also downloaded Modern Combat Sandstorm, but it force closes on opening it, disappointed about that as I wanted to play it.

Also, check out SpeedX 3D on the market, it's pretty fun.

i just got N.O.V.A its so much like halo its funny

but i do find the controls are little quarky, but not too bad... and really fun

I have an EVO and purchased Dungeon Hunter from the Gameloft site by choosing Verizon and Droid... i was able to download it fine but it force closes when i try to start it... did you do anything special to make it work?

One small addition for any new readers to the thread, make sure you go to the gameloft website on your computer and not on your phone as it will auto detect your phone, BUT! small update to their website does make some games available to your HTC EVO 4G by selecting Sprint and your actual phone model now. Not all the games are available, hopefully soon they will be.

Edit: @ zwrm1 - I had some problems with my games while I was using a combination of unrevoked, the superuser permissions app, wifi tethering and Overclock CPU Widget. I wasn't able to narrow it down, more like I didn't try to narrow it down I just uninstalled all those apps and my problems went away. Is your phone rooted using unrevoked and are you using any of those apps?

flukeSG2, we have seen others run into some similar problems with the same setup, but the friend reformatted before we could help him out - luckily it was not a compatibility problem with any of our apps! :-)

It certainly is if you want to discuss it on android forums.

Linking to pirated material is against the forum rules, as most of you are aware. Please keep your suggestions legal in the future folks.

Oh... uhh... well... it sure is important!

I know I might wound like a tool, but NOVA is actually a pretty entertaining game, and runs very well. It is pretty impressive how they implemented purely touch screen controls for a FPS. Ok, I'm a tool.

Top 5 (specifically for Evo, in order)
1) Need for Speed Shift - This is the driving game I have been dreaming of!
2) Live Hold'em - Self explanatory, VERY well implemented!
3) Spaghetti Marshmallow - GREAT on this large screen! Could NOT put it down till I beat it!
4) Angry Birds - best if phone is rooted and using 'AdFree' app!
5) 4 Player Reactor - Great option for multi-touch screen multiplayer fun! (coming from a Samsung Moment it is AMAZING to utilize the multitouch).

Honorable Mentions
Rocket Bunnies - Pretty cool, smooth, and HUGE (move to SD!) but gets old pretty quick.
Glyder 2 - Free version combined with root and 'AdFree' app... not bad but gets old pretty quick. Reminds me of 'Pilot Wings' for the N64
The Sims 3 - Very well done, but not for me.

Others (for any android phone)
- Mini Golf Wacky Worlds
- City Jump
- Jewels/Sudoku/Solitaire (of course)
- Mushroom Wars
- Robo Defense (of course)
- Tank Hero (must have high end phone)
- Tank Recon 3D (must have high end phone - I don't have the paid version, can anyone tell me if it's worth it?)

Just saw a couple games on the news called "Sky Siege" (paid) and "Android Archer" (free). Does anyone have an opinion about them?

UPDATE: DO NOT bother with Android Archer...
