Root Best method of rooting?

One Click Root / Unroot or z4root ? Those are the 2 that I've been reading up on xda. Does it make a differnce how you Root your device?

I have another question. Is it necessary to install the USB drives listed on that site in order to root? I never had to install anything and I can access my phone. A pop-up comes up and says I need to install a drive, but I always click it off my screen and go about using pdanet/transferring movies and pictures/music fine.

I actually used the root method that was included in Ryan's One Click Lag Fix to avoid the USB driver issue completely, unfortunately that app is gone from the market. However, in my install attempts that I thought had failed I ended up getting those damned drivers installed somehow - don't ask me what sledge hammer worked!

Hahah! Thanks for your response. I think I will uninstall the current drive I see installed, "Android", and try to install the ones on the site! Thanks again for your help!

Yeah life was easier when you could just install OCLF or z4root from the market then root from that. Unfortunately Google has cracked down on marketplace apps that root. OCLF is back but without the root option, and z4root has still got the boot. So first you have to sideload the z4root apk, which involves a PC and drivers. :(

Or it involves copying a file, editing it and returning it...anyone want the link let me know and I'll post it when I get home.
