Best method to condition new batteries

Its been talked about in other forums, and the techniques are quick varied. With N3 starting to come out, with the larger battery in it. While waiting for my White VzW model to come in, I started to think about ways to maximum battery longevity. I know liIon batteries can be conditioned in some manner.

Whats the best practice here once the phone arrives. Fully charge first?
Or just start using it and let it drain till the phone shuts off, then full charge.
I know with some batteries it better to fully drain it maybe once per month.

Looking for best practices here. thanks!

My understanding is that, while conditioning does actually make a difference, it's almost too small to measure.

Doesn't stop me fully charging then using until fully discharged (i.e. the phone turns itself off) a couple of times ;)

a couple of times at the beginning with a new battery. Or also a couple of times a year?

With all my phones ever since my old flip phones I've always fully charged and fully used until the device shuts off twice when I first get it, and then I try to do it at least once a month. With my current iPhone I have a charger at home, in my truck and at work so I generally do it once a week or every other week now.

I don't know if this actually helps the battery life or not. It's probably one of those things that you really can't know for sure.

I used to do all this stuff with my Macs (I still do a bit - but monthly is recommended) and then found in the end it was such a pain that I'd rather just shell out for a new battery slightly more often.

i didn't think it was advisable to totally discharge li-ion batteries.

Just plug it in and use it.

I just got my LG OPTIMUS G and the battery only lasted one day and I had to charge it again because it showed low battery. Is it normal for the battery to this phone to lose its charge so fast??
